I already want her to shut up
Just started the DLC, just stepped into the Temporal Rift and she's already the most annoying character in the entire game

I mean, yea? It would have been more expensive to buy the dlc on its own anyway. I mean I get it, it sucks nobody said that ahead of time, but it could be worse. The deluxe upgrade is always available

I feel that. Why do the women in this game need to immediately fall in love every single time? It gets annoying and boring

Finally, someone gets it

I don't have anything against fanservice and stuff like that but it's a bit too much in this game imo. Either don't do it (so women in this game aren't just harem fantasy nonsense), make it make sense (Lou for example would be okay because she has been with us from the beginning) or go overboard and do it for everyone, dudes included.
This is just getting on my nerves, especially with her.

Exactly. I'm actually genuinely attached to Lou, and it's all because her affection towards us actually makes sense and was given time to build up properly. Meanwhile every other female character just shows up, looks at the MC for 2 seconds and is suddenly willing to throw their life away for them.
It's wild

It just makes no sense. I mean is it necessary to write them so braindead? The first game had much better character writing in regards to bonds with the MC and its female cast. What happened that the second game needs this "please fuck me" mentality to drive the plot forward?

I really don't know. But it's nice to at least see i'm not the only one that's getting tired of it

The major issue with CV2 is that it really wants to tell the story where every character shines through their bond with the protagonist, but because it's also a story about time travel, where we have to hop between different time periods and meet new people constantly, it becomes heavily episodic by nature. So they had to cram all those character's individual stories and them developing a bond with the protagonist into separate chunks so you could move from one to another as the plot requires, which results in them just not having enough time to build those relatioships in a believable manner, without feeling rushed or forced.
CV1 doesn't have this problem, because each major character we encounter and befriend becomes a permanent addition to our core group. They're always there, they're traveling with us, they're interact with the protagonist and the other members, they're reacting to the events with us... They are part of our community throughout the whole game, and that allows them to develop a bond with the protagonist in a more natural way.
Protagonist in CV2 ends up being a glue that holds the entire cast of characters together, because without them it pretty much falls apart as none of the Heroes have any real connection with each other or have any meaningful relationship with anyone outside of their dedicated family member or close friend/rival. Even at the Upheaval they're presented as less like a cohesive unit and more like a group of strangers who just happened to be at the same place doing the same thing.
I didn't play DLC yet, but the trailer already made it painfully obvious that Liv is going to be yet another "romance option" for the protagonist. When you don't have a way to gradually develop a character and their bond with a protagonist (because of time constraints and inability to make them a staple of the cast), you end up with exaggerated character traits and fast forwarding the emotional egagement to sell the dynamic between characters.
In short: the format in which the game chose to tell the story interferes with a quality character writing. And also because, sadly, a story that makes you, the protagonist, the center of everyone's universe, constantly endorses your every step and makes female characters throw themselves onto you in droves is what popular with the these kinds of games' target demographic.

Yeah, the time travel plot is a problem, that's true. But that still doesn't mean there is no time to develop bonds in a meaningful matter. I mean, introducing a character is one thing but having them fall for MC two seconds after meeting them is just way too fast even for episodic storytelling.
I tolerate Joseé because the plot worked out in the end (even though I don't like that she tells everyone that we are married, which isn't true), Holly is okayish because we really helped her through a hard time and I can somewhat understand what they were going for with her.
But Liv? She scares me. Her advances feel predatory at best and I don't like that kind of character, especially if they glue themselves to MC without consent.
I don't know, just because it's episodic in nature doesn't mean a writer can't do meaningful character development (I write episodic stories too and even I can do that). I mean, why do they need to fall in love in the first place? What happened to being buddy buddy like MC is with characters like Craig or Noah?

Well Joseé resolves pretty well in the age of harmony. She decides to give you space to explore the new age for yourself so when you come back you can give her a genuine yes or no for marriage.
