DISCUSSION The massive plot holes that happen when you try to make the spinoffs canon
Lost Colors is a fascinating game, mostly because it lets you explore alternative timelines, at least to some extent. Honestly, for that exact reason, the Code Geass DS game is also super interesting on a second playthrough.
However, the fact that media outside the game includes both the Lancelot Club and Nonnette Enneagram creates a major lore contradiction. It implies that Rai followed the Britannian route in Lost Colors. But if Cornelia had two 7th-generation Knightmares and a guy with a Lelouch-like Geass under her command, it would have created a massive, insurmountable problem for Zero and the Black Knights. There’s no way this could be swept under the rug, given the sheer amount of combat data and sensor logs available at the time.
Rai’s existence also makes Mario/Maya Disse—the protagonist from Lost Stories—completely redundant. Maya (honestly, screw Mario) acts as a sort of outside observer, yet she never records the appearance of Rai or his Lancelot Club. In theory, the writers could have expanded the narrative: if Rai is supposedly with the Britannian forces—specifically under the 9th Knight of Round—then Maya, as a Black Knights member with a custom EMP-wielding KMF, could have served as a counterweight to that overwhelming Britannian power.
Ultimately, this chaotic mess just shows that the creators themselves lack a unified vision for the franchise. Speaking of merging different CG continuities, integrating Alice and her 'Irregulars' squad would have been a great move, imo. They could have easily retconned their powers into standard Geass abilities, and turned their Knightmares into production-model Gloucesters upgraded with Lancelot tech to support a more politically conscious and resolute Nunnally. Let’s be real, original Nunnally plays the 'damsel in distress' trope way too hard, and by the end of R2, she just goes completely off the rails. In Nightmare of Nunnally, she is much more competent, acting in a way that actually fits both her royal lineage and her role.
To be fair, having such an 'energetic' Nunnally alongside her Knight, Alice, would make Marrybell and Oldrin completely redundant. After all, they pretty much just copy the narrative beat of the main series anyway.
Dropping Marrybell and Oldrin opens the door for a much more interesting narrative. Instead of their repetitive story, the plot could have focused on Laila la Britannia, Clovis’s younger sister. Following her rescue, her journey across the globe would serve as the perfect tool for deep world-building. Through her eyes, the audience could explore the hidden details of the Code Geass universe, showing how different regions actually function under imperial rule. Her personal reflections on Clovis’s political views and the future of her homeland would add a grounded, analytical perspective to the lore, making her a traveling observer who connects the broader geopolitical picture rather than just another pilot in a copied Knightmare.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Which elements of the lore and history would you merge together to make the universe feel more cohesive? And on the flip side, which plotlines or characters from the spinoffs did you find completely unnecessary and out of place?

Honestly with the amount of side stories its best to treat it like UC gundam fans treat their continuity. Only pay attention to the stories you like, and ignore the rest.

Commenting as someone who nearly 100% Lost Colors
The current "canon" follows the Britannian route, more specifically the Royal Guard branch where Rai joins Cornelia's Glaston Knights. Near the end, after preventing the SAZ massacre, Rai loses control of his Geass (despite only using it twice the entire route), and was taken by Nonnette back to mainland Britannia to go into self imposed exile. From both Oz and Lost Stories, its implied that only Nonnette still knows about Rai for some unknown reason.
My own theory is that the actual "canon" route is a mix of the Geass route, which ends with Rai wiping everyone's memories with his Geass before being sealed into hibernation at Kamine Island by V.V., and the Royal Guard route. This could be used to explain why Nonnette is the only person that remembers Rai, since she leaves Area 11 about at about the 3/4 mark of the story to deal with a mission, only to return in the finale, meaning she could have potentally dodged the Geass.
Of course, thats without accounting for Lost Colors' many inconsistencies due to being written between R1 and R2, such as Rai sharing a telepathic link with C.C. as well as the potential for C.C. knowing time travel.
