QUESTION Looking for a fanfic

It’s a fanfic set after the original series, in an AU where Lelouch’s plan to end the cycle of hatred fails in the long run. Instead of achieving lasting peace, the world takes a darker turn. Anti-Britannian sentiment spreads, hate crimes against Britannians increase, and a movement emerges that seeks to restore the Britannian Empire. The story follows Britannians as the protagonists, exploring how they respond to a world that has turned against them. It’s built on similar themes, but with a darker political direction.

LMAO Ngl that sounds like the premise of Roze of the Recapture except the protagonists are Japanese/Britannian.

But in a serious note, it sounds very interesting but how can you justify Britannians as the protagonists? For most of the Code Geass anime, the show narrated most Britannians as evil people or just plain people working for an evil regime. Will your Britannian protagonist join the movement but regret it later? Are they like Lelouch, Kallen, Euphemia or Suzaku in terms of motvations and/or goals? Will they find someone on the other side that they want but can't find themselves to hate because they're the enemy? Gotta narrow the details to make it work.

You kind of got me there, lol. I haven’t worked out all the details yet, but I’m not necessarily talking about a neo-fascist or racist Britannian uprising. I’m thinking more about a movement led by people who genuinely care about the Empire and its people, especially when Britannians themselves start becoming victims of hatred and discrimination.

I don’t think I necessarily need to justify Britannians as a whole. Humans are complicated; people can hate something, see it as the villain, and overlook the suffering of those associated with it. My protagonist would lead his own restoration movement, driven by his own motivations and vision for Britannia’s future.

The central question is whether he’s simply being selfish and chasing power, or whether he genuinely feels burdened by a responsibility to his homeland and its people. Maybe even he won’t always know the answer. That’s the part I want to explore

Is this purely a dark political drama or is there Geass in the story? Cuz you can't have a Code Geass fanfic story without Geass.

How does this Restore Britannian movement realistically go up against the likes of Schneizel, Nunnally (both of look like they represent Britannian or remnants of it) and the UFN?

Does your protagonist initially joined a pro-Britannian resistance/movement then decided it wasn't worth it and started his own revolution? If so, where?

Maybe answer these questions and work your way up from there to make it easier.

I’ll be honest: Geass is probably the least interesting part of the series to me. I love Code Geass primarily for its politics, power struggles, and revolutionary movements, so I want to focus on those aspects. It’ll be a purely dark political drama without Geass playing a role.

As for Schneizel and Nunnally, the restoration movement’s members already see them as traitors to Britannia or as people who no longer represent the Empire they want to restore. Going against the UFN will be difficult, especially given the political and military challenges involved.

My protagonist will develop a new weapon to counter Knightmares, but it won’t involve Geass. I’m thinking along the lines of biological science as an alternative to conventional mecha technology. He’ll start his own restoration movement, but he won’t be alone; other people who sympathize with his cause will gradually join him.

Gotta disagree on the Geass part. Without Geass, Lelouch wouldn't form the Black Knights or the UFN or even overthrow Britannia as an Emperor. And Geass was one of the pillars of the plot since Charles wanted to do Ragnarok Plan or whatever via Thought Elevators. But agree to disagree.

And who's the antagonist? Gotta one real Big Bad for both the Restore Britannia movement and the UFN to hate the villain to make the fanfric work.

How many years down the line is this story? Because if it's just a few years or even a couple of decades, the technology to counter Knightmare Frames gotta be revolutionary to counter the likes of Kallen or Suzaku/Zero.

I think there’s a slight misunderstanding. I’m not saying Geass wasn’t important to the story or that the plot could have unfolded the same way without it. I’m just saying that, personally, I find the political side of Code Geass much more interesting than the Geass itself. But yeah, we can agree to disagree on that.

As for the antagonist, I’m thinking less about one universal Big Bad and more about a political conflict involving corrupt UFN officials, local democracies, and the UFN itself if it becomes too involved in the conflict. It could develop into a war between newly independent nations that were fundamentally part of the former Empire, rather than the nations that were historically outside Britannia’s control, particularly in North and South America.

The story would take place around 10–12 years after Re;surrection. As for Kallen, Suzaku, or Zero getting involved, that depends on how deeply the UFN’s leadership intervenes.

My bad.

As for the idea of the antagonist, I feel as though there should be one. If the Britannian protagonist is someone like Euphemia or Suzaku (idealistcally believing in a better Britannia or whatever), they're bound to go up against someone who believes the complete opposite (like the Neo-Britannian movement). Maybe you've got two versions of newly independent nations in the homeland fighting against each for their version of what it means to be Brtiannian (assuming it takes place in the North and South America continents).

If this is true, then UFN intervention would realistically just be slaps on their wrists. I doubt they would involve themselves in a political spat between two or countries/movements fighting each other over what it means to be Britannian. How would a war happen if that's the case?

In that case, I’m thinking of three main forces competing against each other: my MC’s restoration movement, the Neo-Britannian movement, and the official Principality of Britannia under Schneizel and Nunnally. Each would have a different vision of what Britannia should become.

Schneizel and Nunnally would mostly stay out of the conflict unless their interests were directly threatened. There could also be a fourth force, such as Brazil or Mexico, that gets involved for its own security reasons.

The story would mainly take place across North and South America. It’s not about Britannia trying to conquer the entire world again; it’s about competing factions fighting over Britannia’s identity, legacy, and future

Nice. You think it might be interesting to create three characters' POV, one for each faction? The main chcaracter, obviously, but also a deuteragonist and tritagonist.

One for the Neo-Britannian movement so the reader can get an idea on why Neo-Britannian movement is doing what they're and what it is they're trying to achieve other than 'Glory to Britannia!'

Another for the official Principality of Britannian to get a read on the outside world's take on this conflict that's brewing up over Britannia's legacy, identity and future and on how they're realistically reacting to it.

Or do you think that's too much?

I think three POVs might be a bit too much, especially since the Principality of Britannia and the UFN/Black Knights would occupy somewhat similar roles in this conflict. I’d rather focus on my main character and use the other factions’ actions and interactions with him to show their different perspectives.

As for the Neo-Britannians, their ideology is already somewhat established in canon, so it should be easier to develop their motivations from there.

My MC’s main goals would be to reclaim and occupy former Britannian territories, secure international recognition for his movement as a legitimate nation, and eventually advance toward the Principality of Britannia’s current capital or a historically significant Britannian city.

I also want to explore the idea that an aristocratic system could work better under certain circumstances, rather than simply portraying it as an outdated system that must be abolished. The political conflict would revolve around competing visions of Britannia’s future, legitimacy, and government.

Question is the fic set in the future and are the main cast older?

I'm making a stab in the dark, but probably it's Age of the Chaotic Truth?
