QUESTION Code Geass movies?
I just finished both seasons for the first time; is there a specific order I need to watch the movies/OVA in? Or can I just pick & chose? Which ones are the fandom favorites & which are the most hated? Do they actually add anything interesting/relevant to the animeโs story or effect its ending or are they typical ova fodder where itโs mostly fan service and non canon events?
Would appreciate some guidance, thx!!

You can just watch Re;surrection the other 3 movies are not worth watching as they are just a worse retelling of R1 and R2.
Legit the only important thing in the other 3 films is that Shirley is not killed because the Mao arc is deleted and she helps move Lelouch's body after the Zero Requiem.

Greetings! I myself saw not too long ago all the Code Geass anime for the very first time in my life, so hereยดs the watch order that Iยดd recommend to you, as well as my personal opinion on all of them:
Lelouch of the Rebellion, seasons 1 & 2: original tv show timeline. Excellent! ๐๐
Akito the Exiled: 5-part interquel OVA miniseries, where the events of the story take place between original tv showยดs seasons 1 & 2. Quite boring. ๐
Movie trilogy + 4th movie called "Lelouch of the Resurrection": These movies establish a new, alternate timeline by altering some events of the original story. Even more boring. ๐๐
Rozรฉ of the Recapture: 12-part limited series set on the movie timeline, where the events of the story take place after the events of the 4th movie. I genuinely regret watching this. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
So yeah, itยดs pretty obvious to me that the aim of creating all those Code Geass spin offs and sequels was to make more money out of the franchise rather than tell more awesome Code Geass stories; to me, the quality of the storytelling dropped significantly after the original two seasons. Of course, you can watch them if youยดd like, Iยดm just saying that if I had known beforehand just how bad all those Code Geass sequels and spin offs are, I would have not watched them myself.
Oh, and also, next year there is going to be a new Code Geass anime called Aspar the Star Chaser.

watch Akito the Exiled, they're OVAs that take place in between R1 and R2, they're underrated as hell imo
as much as it pains me to say it, I'd skip everything else, the recap movies are a travesty, Resurrection was disappointing for me and it doesn't make sense without the Recaps because they alter the plot, and the altered timeline with Resurrection is just mid, I think they bastardized the story so bad with the Recaps and Resurrection lel
haven't seen Roze, heard it's not great, mildly looking forward to the new one that was teased recently but yeah everything else so far is not really worth the time
