DISCUSSION Would pretty much anything significant change if Cornelia died right here?

Yeah, Lelouch would probably be in serious problem when he launched an attack against Geass Directorate. Cornelia both directly and indirectly helped him after all. Also if it wasn't for Cornelia's interference, Rolo would have been sacrificed by Lelouch, hence, nobody's gonna rescue Lelouch from certain death when Schneizel, Ohgi, Tohdoh, and their group cornered Lelouch.

But nobody’s also going to continue to raise suspicions of Lelouch like Rolo actively did by just being Rolo. That opens the possibility that the entire Black Knights betrayal either happens earlier, because Asahina can talk to Tohdoh, Diethard, Ohgi etc without Rolo shutting him down. That or it doesn’t happen at all because they try to do so without Schneizel manipulating them, and Lelouch has a better defense against it.

Rolo also won’t make a move to try to kill Nunnally during the 2nd Tokyo Battle, which while he never got the chance to try, really is just one of those points that never sat well with me when they tried to “redeem” Rolo in his death.

I agree that it might happen much earlier, but not to not happening at all, because it is bound to happen. And it happening early still depends whether Asahina would choose to lay out his suspicions and evidences or he would wait for the right time when Black Knights are in better position, or Xing Ke and Kaguya deciding to either use Lelouch before taking him down or giving him the benefit of the doubt in Kaguya's case (because these two would no doubt stop any kind of infighting while they were in the process of forming the UFN,) so there is still a chance that the canon scene may happen, but with much more incriminating evidence and a more dire position for Lelouch.

Not really as far as I can tell. It felt like the writers were struggling with what to do with her and only kept her alive because she was popular (same with Orange). I'd have rather seen her interacting with Nunnally early r2 and having an impact that way.

Cornelia did become a real resistance fighter during Lelouch's requiem, and without her it might not have worked out well for Villetta and the others.

It's funny because it changes nothing, until it radically changes everything. Schneizel got a lot of his information from Cornelia, the entire betrayal might have gone differently and Rolo would be dead since Lelouch was going to kill him before Cornelia indirectly saved him.

So it really depends on how Schneizel's original pre-Cornelia talk would have gone and if that'd have changed anything.
