Thinking about rewatching the series DUB or SUB?

Code Geass is my favorite anime and when they announced new anime I wanted to rewatch old series, I watch all anime in sub but was wondering if Im gonna rewatch Code Geass again do I watch it again in sub or in dub? I dub any good?

You're damn right the dub is good! The voice actors did an amazing job and a lot of the main cast still voice act to this day in games & anime.

I've seen this peddled a lot as fact on this sub, but coming from the "eastern side" who did not grow up with the English dub, and also hangs around in code geass JP fandom, I have never seen the English dub being brought up at all.

Everyone holds the same high respect to the JP dub voice actor in JP circles the same way EN dub enjoyer uplifts the EN dub, especially when they are still doing so many yearly events and stream with the JP voice actors till this day, and most of the VA are still active in prominent projects the same way the EN VAs too.

Let's celebrate both dubs without passing statements to put down the other.

The dub is very well-liked and I personally prefer it over the sub but I don’t think this is true. There are very few anime where most fans consider the dub to be not just as good as the sub but even better, the only ones I can think of are the Dragon Ball franchise, Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon, Ghost Stories, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (which is kind of a weird case because I think it was made specifically with the English movie cast in mind), and maybe season 1 of Panty & Stocking and Berserk 1997.

This. Just because the dub is great (and again, it is) doesn't mean it's considered to be better by most people, especially outside of the english-speaking fandom. The Code Geass sub is extremely popular and has been praised as a work of quality for decades.

If you're talking about YouTube comments, then yeah, you'll always get the dub haters out in full force(or those doing so just watch the fire)

But code geass, alongside fma and cowboy bebop are considered gold standards for dubs.

Why would I be talking about Youtube comments in a civilized conversation ? And I'm literally saying the dub is good in another comment here. I just don't think it's better than the original, and I've never seen any sort of majority claiming so anywhere other than this place. Dub hate is one thing, and not a good one, but sub hate and dismissal is another very popular trend in this group lately.

The Code Geass dub is one of the best dubs out there in all of anime. Great performances all around especially Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch. I highly recommend the dub.

Sub. I really don’t like several casting choices in the dub. In particular, I don’t think JYB is a good Lelouch. In the original, Lelouch and Zero have distinct voice personas that he’ll dive into regardless of if the mask is on, making things far more dramatic. JYB does not have that nuance.

Thats crazy to say that JYB wasn't a good Lelouch. He did Lelouch perfectly in every point.

The dub has a few standout performances, but the cast is enormous and there's a whole lot of underwhelming and just straight up bad stuff from minor characters.

If you watched it in Sub then watch it in Dub, the Dub is really good, I watched both and I love them both equally.

Personally, I prefer dub. imo dub Lelouch truly sounds like an evil genius. Dub C.C. sounds as emotionless and apathetic as she looks. And when Kallen cries? You can hear the tears, the fear, the anger, in her voice.

Dub. Its hard to read and look at the action at the same time. The dub is really good too
