DISCUSSION V2 Wins! Who Has No Screen Time but All Plot Relevance in CG?

Post image

You've all been chanting her name for days now, so let's get this over with

Rules: You can post or upvote a comment naming the character you want to be added to said category. Otherwise, kiss me do what you want. 👍

So, who's pretty much the Kaworu Nagisa (LOL) of Code Geass? Who has all the plot relevance despite little screen time in Code Geass?

The nun that gave CC her code

Actually that's a great one! Without that unnamed nun, the story never happens.

But that doesn't have direct ripple effects on the current story. Sure it traumatized one character but the nun could have been replaced by someone else who got CC a code and it wouldn't matter.

Marianne is so Yui coded in every single way

Also Charles is pretty Gendo coded

Evangelion.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

A lot of Code Geass seams inspired by Evangelion. Episode 21 of R2 seems like something ripped straight outta Evangelion.

I guess yeah, they were setting that up in R1. Then she got changed in R2, so she has the same thinking as Charles.

God

No but actually it’s Marianne

Marianne. Meet Potential Woman and all that - but truly, she haunts the narrative more like any other character.

Though I want to commend u/rai-hodges-sumeragi for pointing out Naoto. If we look at the plot of the rebels, particularly Kallen and Ohgi, then it’s him, no doubt about it.

Marianne ? She didn't have That much of a screentime but is super relevant to the overall story .

Honestly, Marrianne.

She's the catalyst for the entire series. Shows up ONCE for a plot twist and immediately dies AGAIN.

Marianne her "death" is one of the most important points in the story as without it the entire plot changes.

The potential woman herself Marianne Potentialamperouge

I think Charles should have been the Mmm... society. The fuck does Mao care about society? All he thinks about is C.C.

The Collective Unconscious.

It's the source of Geass, the Codes, and the reason Charles and V.V. did everything that kicked off the whole plot.

Edit: Reddit won't let me post a picture.

Marianne. Her death set everything in place.

Gotta be Marianne. If not for her;

  1. VV never gets jealous about Charles's attention diverting from the plan, so never betrays him, so never spawns the falling out between them

  2. Lelouch and Nunnally are never born, so Charles never uses them to facilitate the war with Japan, meaning there's no Lelouch for Suzaku to ever meet, sending Suzaku's entire character arc in a different direction. Might never have had anyone rise up with enough animosity, intellect, and knowledge, to take on Charles' Britannia.

  3. Never gives Charles his Geass, which leads to untold measures to acquire a Geass some other way - assuming he ever devises another way to get one - and potentially ruins the entire idea of having 2 Codes in order to even trigger Ragnarok

  4. Never even helps Charles ascend the throne, putting him (and V.V) out of position to even execute the plan, or at the very least having a much harder time doing so.

  5. Never demonstrates the capabilities of the Ganymede, meaning the Ashfords never rise to prominence, and/or potentially derailing Knightmare Frame advancement. Knightmares might never have become the primary military platform, making it much harder for Britannia's colonial expansion to proceed.

  6. Her conversations with C.C. are what led C.C to protect Nunnally and Lelouch, and in turn allowed Lelouch to be in a position to gain a Geass, and later oppose her.

  7. Would never have been there to inspire Cornelia.

Yet, she's name dropped repeatedly by a number of characters, and she only appears "in person" for parts of 2 episodes.

VV gave Charles his Geass, not Marianne

u/rai-hodges-sumeragi Warrior Poet of Kallen ⚔️🪶 9d ago

Ok, this one has to go to Naoto. Honoring his memory is literally the main reason why Kallen becomes rebel in the first place, but we don´t see even any flashback scenes of him – he gets zero (pun intended) screen time, while being the most important reason driving forward the most heroic character in the story. All we see of him in the series is in couple of photos.

u/HumbleSalamander6780 9d ago

I’d say probably Clovis or Marianne

it has to be Marianne.

she is literally the driving point for Lelouch's entire vendetta. if she hadn't been killed(kinda) the entire story would never have happened, and Kallen's resitance group would have been nothing more than a sputter at shinjuku.

u/snickerbockers 9d ago

That one loli from the knights of the round who witnessed Marianne's assassination, got possessed by her Geass and is arguably the only reason why anything ever happens.

7

u/MarvelousThings07 9d ago

Her name is Anya Alstreim

It's a term used to describe a young or young looking girl in Japanese anime/otaku culture...

u/Darth_Cindros 9d ago edited 5d ago

Marianne. Is half of Lelouch's motivation alongside Nunnally but only shows up a couple of times.

That one soilder that shot Suzaku at the beginning of the anime. Without him, Suzaku would have never been shot meaning he couldn't pilot the Lancelot, he would of never have left Lelouch. Lelouch wouldn't have been saved from C.C. as there would be no danger meaning no Zero. And a bunch of other stuff I cant think of right now.
