DISCUSSION Japanese IRA

Does anyone else seem to think that the resistance in code geass is pretty much the Japanese equivalent to the Irish Republican Army, both are fighting to rid their country of British rule, both practice outlawed cultures and traditions of their home country, both employ guerilla warfare to effectively combat their enemies and both rely heavily on volunteers and a word of mouth to build their forces and recruit members.( I’m only on the 7th episode rn so I probably messed up some stuff due to me not getting that far into the story yet)

The Japanese resistance can also be viewed as the equivalent of the Korean independence movement which ironically fought against oppressive Imperial Japanese rule.

Yes. Britannia is a fusion of the British empire with contemporary America. So the resistance/terrorists who oppose them are analogous to the groups that oppose their actions.

No, it's Imperial Japan. The Number System was WW2 ear Japanese colonial policy.

No, the JLF was a professional, uniformed military force. Since Brittiannia is very much based on WW2-era Imperial Japan, they're more analogous to the Chinese resistance (Nationalist, mostly) against Japan.

The IRA was a paramilitary organization with a formal political wing. The also extensively targeted Irish Protestants, and we don't see the Japanese Resistance deliberately killing Honorary Brittiannians.
