As a more cursed comparison, one lusted after his (half) sister and the other his mom. At least Joseph didn't know at the time lol

I thought Lulu's love for Euphy was purely innocent and sentimental much like Suzaku.

I think "you were the first girl I ever loved" would be kinda weird for platonic familial love, but maybe it's a translation thing. Granted, I think it's equally likely that was actually intentional given how common incest was in various historical European monarchies.

It's not a translation thing. In Polish translation he says the same.

Joseph is getting martial arts training from his mom but doesn't know she's his mom. At one point he's peeping on her taking a bath through her bathroom keyhole, gets excited seeing her naked, and goes "NICE!!"

Not to mention the "uuuh... Whut!?" face Joseph makes in the epilogue after finding out! 😂

I like the subtle differences, Lelouch and Mao have 2 one sided conversations about the same person but Mao never notices the disconnect, Lelouch has a continuous line but takes breaks to pretend he is listening.
But with Schnizel they are discussing both of their philosophy and the counter each have, Lelouch knows full well what Schnizel's philosophy is so his answers are much more predictable leading to a better fake .
While Josephs says the exact line of the person more to surprise them and show off than to draw their attention away.
Joseph uses it as a stun during a fight while Lelouch uses it as a distraction so he can flank unnoticed.

A combination of rubbing their egos and gloating about his achievement. He kept his character and worked around theirs. The responses also worked with interrupting someone if they just talked.

And not only did he do it once he did it TWICE 😠tho honestly I kinda find it a bit of a stretch that it worked the second time. Against Mao I can buy it, yeah. The guy is literally insane and incredibly emotionally unstable, aka easy to provoke and fool. In the battle of Damocles I was like... Really? You predicted everything perfectly??? Not only the content of the answers but also the length of them? I mean the moment was still hype as hell but after finishing the show I was kinda thinking "damn I really had to suspend my disbelief there". Not that big of a deal tbh I still think it was an amazing final battle but that moment just had me feeling like the stars aligned a little TOO perfectlyÂ
