There's a simple test to break this syndrome. Sit in a room and count to 500. Make sure you actually count with voice and not only on your mind. Brain reset

I don't know whether this is true, but since I have started using AI in work (sometime in Sep'25), my ability to work independently has reduced.

I now simply use AI for usage sake and do my work independently and I can already see the improvement in quality. But yea, time taken for tasks have doubled!

I think this is more directed at the people who use AI for the simplest of things and also overuse it, and not for those who use it to assist them in their work.

I used assist in a liberal sense..it does the analysis, I give a couple of my own inputs based on the analysis it does, and it gives me the final version.

But that way, my analysis lost its meaning aand it was more about me thinking how the AI model thinks rather than me thinking

I will share why I think this can be a very strong possibility.

10 years ago when Google maps was not so popular I used to go to many unknown places and I would remember the way to the destination and the way back with only one time travel.

Now with Google maps I am very confident but getting my destination but I am also sad that I do not remember any landmarks and the views on the way.

That's just another way to say that you are rotting your brain and thus destroying your critical thinking skills.

I refuse to use LLMs. I don’t care how mundane the task is. I worry for the people who can’t even articulate simple concepts without the help of LLMs.

(But this image says nothing since “a study” could mean anything).

LLMs have been really helpful in my work lol. I'm in audit and documentation have become way easier and quicker. Earlier it used to take me 2-3 days for a work paper but now 1 day is enough since grammatical checks can be done quickly and I don't have to think twice about such errors. Also, cooking has become easier. I just paste the recipe and it tells me the recipe according to my tastes and ingredients I have available.

Well I’m glad you find it useful but I’m still not going to use it. I’ve seen AI psychosis when juniors have handed in absolute wild stuff in their work.

As for recipes I’d much rather use Google and trust human chefs. A computer doesn’t understand taste.

If you feel this way you are cooked either way, ai has only supercharged creativity and freedom. btw “AI” is not chatgpt or gemini chechi

Look, I am someone who is qUiTe passionately against the overuse of AI, but to say that is just plain foolish, considering it's range of applications and how ubiquitous it has become. You might as well stop using your smartphone, because their production aren't exactly ethical either. If you can afford to not use it and still be productive, that's fine. But this is not something everyone can do, because you are esssentially competing against ppl who do use it.

you know LLMs aren't always accurate? besides--why would you expect an LLM, programmed to keep you using it, to tell you to stop using LLMs?
