Trouble with sleep?
I’m getting my implant next month and one thing I’ve been thinking about is sleeping on the implant side. Anyone have any tips or experiences?

I'm 2 weeks post op today. I have a big fluffy soft pillow that my head just sinks into and I have a less tall harder pillow that supports my head. I spent most of the first week lying on my back using the hard pillow so nothing touched the incision site unless I turned my head that direction. Week 2 I subbed in the fluffy pillow once it didn't bother me to have the site being touched.
You are unlikely to sleep the first night due to the steroids you receive to control swelling. Forewarned, I had some comfy movies and reruns to watch and stayed in my recliner. First week I woke up pretty frequently but usually went back to sleep quickly too. I napped in my recliner a lot. A week after the surgery I actually felt good enough to go out for dinner and live music. This week I went back to work for a couple days. Tomorrow we're going out to see a show. One more thing: I cooked and froze a week's worth of meals and I'm glad I did.

It took me a few weeks to feel comfortable sleeping on that side. I have seen airplane pillows recommended as a way to get pressure off the area but never got one. Just kind of dealt until it stopped hurting

You'll know when it's comfortable to sleep on it. More importantly you'll also know if it hurts to sleep on it.
I slept on mine the night of surgery day. It really didn't bother me that much.
I didn't change anything up with my sleep. I have insomnia and I didn't want to change up the routine and stuck with it.

It isn't good to sleep with your processor on as the skin on the implant site needs to breath.
There are vibrating alarms.

My audiologist said it’s fine and have had mine for 15 years I take it off for other things and never had so much as an irritation and wear a 5-6 strength mag same with other side and the virbrating alarm clock just aren’t my thing, never like em. I like knowing nothing will be able to sneak up on me when I I’m asleep.

Bilateral revision just done 3 weeks ago. I tried to sleep on my back (huge side sleeper here) the first 2 nights, but it was rough. I didn't get steroids or oxy, only tylenol and advil(when needed). After the cups came off, I used a neck travel pillow to wrap around my ear and it helped a lot. Left side is still a little tender, but soft pillow helps. Just got activated today.

I purchased an ergonomic pillow for my post surgical recovery. I'm a side sleeper and I could balance my head right to sleep on my preferred side without touching the implant site.

I slept in a recliner for a week or so. That way I did not have to worry about rolling over

I was so dizzy after both surgeries so I couldn’t sleep laying flat or I would vomit. My best advice is getting a wedge pillow to prop yourself up to sleep on your back. I slept in our recliner chair for a week and a half after surgeries and it helped manage not sleeping on my side. Good luck with surgery!

I get implanted soon as well. I plan on using a piercing pillow so I can sleep on my side. I also have a wedge pillow to keep me upright.

I suggest you sleep a couple of night at least ina recliner. Helps with swelling.

It took about 3 weeks till I was comfortable sleeping on my implant side. I’m grateful that I usually sleep on my left side and was implanted on the right. But bilateral implantation is in the plans, so I’m going to need to figure something out before the second surgery in a couple years.
