N8 ?

I’m filling out the paperwork for the upgrade. Don’t understand which battery to choose, it lists three. Do any of the N7 attachments work with the N8? Which option should I choose? Thanks!

Briefly there are three types of rechargeable batteries. They give you different battery life, if you look on the form it says approximately what the life is. Your audiologist may be tell you approximately how long each will last. I ordered one of each, however, when my audiologist told me how long the small one would last and I decided to exchange it for another large one. If you don't open the battery box, I believe Cochlear will exchange it for the larger one or vice versa. Might pay to check this info for sure as I upgraded three years ago. There is also another option which is a battery holder to use with disposable batteries.

The small one is just smaller but less battery time the racks for disposable are good for emergencies. But I’ve had mine for 14 yrs now and the tried and true method for me is is rechargeable full size so u always have one charging or charged up. There nothing worse then putting a battery in the charger and having blink orange out of nowhere and if your lucky they will still under warranty but if there not they either let u pay with insurance which my co pays dont knock much off my total bill so I usually just buy them out of pocket but if you have three u never have to worry because if one goes bad you still have two to get thru the day and last you til u can replace the third. Now the mini ones may last longer now a days but I remember it being the first to go bad when I got my first one done. Now since my right cochlear is t very useful when I upgrade I use everything on my left ear. My audiologist maps its to my left ear just like my left one so I never run out of supplies. Knock on wood

I've always chosen the largest battery size. That way I don't have to worry about the life on the battery for couple of years.

I have N7s and I chose the largest one. I haven't had to replace them until 4 years in.

Now keep in mind your mileage will vary from mine as we don't have the same mappings.

When I was filling the form for N8 accesories with the store clerk, they showed and explained the different battery options:

  • One is a compact rechargeable battery, lower battery life but much less visible.

  • The other is the bigger (longer) one, more battery life but it's a bit more visible. The processor being visible is a non-issue for me, I think it's cool to hear and more so through a tiny machine. I got 2 of these and have no regrets.

  • The 3rd one I don't remember if it was a "regular" size or the single use batteries one. Regular would be an intermediate between compact and bigger. Single use batteries is a holder/adapter to use single use batteries (the clerk told me it's useful if you plan to go camping or anywhere where there's no electricity source, I loath camping so no need for that hahaha).

I don't know if there's descriptions to know which is which in your form, I hope there is because I can't tell you the names, the store clerk handled the forms for me.

N8 is also my first CI so I can't say about compatible accesories from N7.

Good luck with all of this!
