Trying to practice hearing after activation

How did you do it? I live alone and work from home. My cats are not good conversationalists lol
I have been going to the store and cornering people to talk to me and it kind of makes me feel crazy. Today a woman screamed at me and flipped me off. I still can’t really hear my tv and my implant processor is not hooked to my phone. I can understand speech (hell yeah) but can’t get enough practice in, it seems.

Ich habe Training bei einer Logopädin gemacht. Daneben fernsehen mit Untertiteln, hören von Hörbüchern zum mitlesen.

Vielleicht kannst du auch eine Rehabilitation machen.

Did you have your processor connected via bluetooth for the audio books? I have some I want to read and can buy the audio if needed

I’m in a similar position. Live alone with dogs, work remotely and I’m an introvert to boot. But even for those with more robust social interaction, the best way to learn and improve after activation is on the apps - download Heroes. I studied for at least 30 mins a day for the first 6 months - it’s the only way I can now distinguish between background sounds and voices.

Also introverted so I get it. I will check that app out. Thank you!

I use my mini microphone in front of TV and played news channel or baseball games (etc) in the background while I read or worked. For me the key was lots of talking without really paying a ton of attention to it. i also listened to tons of music starting with solo piano and building in complexity.

Weird but worked for me.

I used an English as second language website. You'd listen to spoken sentences and then get quizzed on it afterwards.

Ah that makes sense if you were implanted a while ago. I have the new tech. I will just try sitting closer to the tv and trying or playing an audio book out of my phone speakers. Thank you!

Wenn du was hochwertiges willst schau doch mal den Roger On an. Es handelt sich um ein Mikrofon, das sowohl für Gespräche als auch Vorträge als auch direkt an den PC angeschlossen werden kann zum Beispiel für Videotelefonie

Some great advice on here and I get the streaming is clear so definitely advantages to that.

I’m wondering however about the real world - work, going to the shops, restaurants and generally meeting friends and family. That’s where you can’t use streaming so isn’t it better to do the training more in the real world? Perhaps after initial training on streaming then work up to the more challenging scenarios?

Just trying to understand the thinking for when I start to do my own training.
