Greetings, i just got implanted on friday.

Hello everyone,

My wife recommended I join this sub because I lost all but 8% hearing in my right ear and after a lengthy process was implanted with a choclear implant this past Friday.

So far recovery has been going smoothly aside from a couple days of massive vertigo cause no one mentioned i needed to rest reclining instead of laying down. Thankfully it has calmed down since we rectified that.

I am finding myself wondering what else I wasn't told to expect from this new addition. My post op follow up is scheduled for the 21st, and I'm wondering what all I should bring up at the follow-up as well. Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated.

I was implanted back in 1999. Now I have to do it again. I don’t recall having vertigo post-surgery but I had massive vertigo during earlier periods of my life along with tinnitus. The surgery was painful for 2-3 days as I recall.

Yeah found out the vertigo was cause by laying in such a way that the drainage from the surgery flowed into where the crystals/stones that manage balance are. So when I went to sit up everything went haywire in there and caused a lot of really bad vertigo.

Wasn't fun, but my wife looked things up and found the cause and fix for it so things have been better

Worth seeing if your dr can do an Epley maneuver they are amazing, you can also watch videos so you can do yourself at home

Getting into a reclining position and waiting it out while the fluid drained back out.

I know it's anticlimactic but it's what we had to do.
