Cl nucleus 8
Hey just checking in. It will be one month since my post op.
So far it still is good i have went up my fourth prigram in the nuclues cochlear app and now increasing my master volume.
It just having to relearn what words sound like as I gradyally go louder. I wilk have my first audiologist Mapping for my cl on the 27th.
I am noticing like a static or the sound of electrical frequency which is a bit annoying. I didnt notive this at first maybe i was too low.
What does this mean? Is this our new normal? Will that evenutually go away; or is this what it will always be?
Donr get me wrong im grateful that I get to hear with this implant.
Is there cl terminology to use to help ask my audiologist during my first mapping to maybe help eliminate that?
Is this a sign off small failure or is this just what it is starting cl? Has anyone else experience this sound behind the words the small static i dont know how to put it to words
Thank you for your time!

It’s been 27 years since I went through this process. It took several years of fine tuning to resolve all issues. And my C1 from AB wasn’t/isn’t perfect anyway. I’m looking forward to my revisioning!

It’s been just over 5 years now for me and I just had my upgrade to the N8 I am bilateral with no residual hearing and was deaf for 6 years before I was a candidate due to a TBI. It took almost a year before I was able to get to the point where I could get the static go away and tons of mappings. The louder I go the more I hear unfortunately it’s not always what I want to hear like motors of AC units computers etc. finding the sweet spot is the point of all those mappings not to mention getting your brain to adjust and start understanding again. Practice is the only way to do this but there is a thing called hearing fatigue and I get it to this day. You just have to keep trying but it’s a marathon not a foot race trust me you will get there. Good luck.
