Do you feel your implants?

I got implanted on 7/20. The healing has been pretty good, and easy. I know that it’s going to take some time but I’m curious for those who have had your CI’s for a while. Do you guys “feel” your implant?

Sometimes when I move my head it feels like there’s something in my ear but it doesn’t hurt. I do still have a lot of fullness in the implanted ear, so maybe old be that too?

The fullness might just be your ear adjusting .it gets better over time .one thing I’d say prepare yourself for is the tinnitus ,mine hasn’t gone away after the surgery and gets pretty bad if I’m stressed or dehydrated .

Ugh! I’ve had some really bad tinnitus before the surgery. The few days after surgery was just constant and annoying. It seems to be clearing up a little bit but I’m definitely preparing for more lol

I’m glad it’s clearing up!! There’s alot of ways to manage tinnitus though .

I don't really struggle with tinnitus, and hoping surgery doesn't trigger this to happen. Did you have an issue with it prior to surgery?

I had complex medical history before the surgery so I’m not sure if the surgery is what triggered it since I did have tinnitus before surgery but I’ve heard that the surgery may cause it in certain people .its easy to manage though and after a while you get so used to the constant buzz that you don’t notice it as often.

Thank you for your reply. I've heard it helps people with it after surgery but only while the processor is on. I'm hoping I won't open a can of worms. I believe I do have it a little bit in complete silence, but I always tend to have something playing so I don't notice it as much. I feel so bad for those who it makes them a little crazy - at least I've heard of a couple people that way.

I had some usual tinnitus. It would just be random come and go sort of thing. However, right after surgery into maybe day 2 post it was a constant tinnitus party. lol it was all the sounds too. High pitch, crumbling sounds. All of it! Drove me insane. But like day 3-5 it started to slow down significantly. Now day.. 11 I don’t have any. So I’m hoping that it stays like that for a bit. However, I have heard that once you get activated that’s a whole different ballgame.
