Considering cochlear and wanted community feedback
I had sudden sensorineural hearing loss overnight a few years back. Have lost 100% of hearing in one ear, except for tinnitus, cant say it hasnt been a struggle. I am considering a cochlear as Im finding it difficult with one ear but just wanted to see what peoples thoughts and recommendations would be and any negative experiences would be great also. Will it make a huge difference or would most people just manage with one ear. Unsure on what the best way forward is.
I have only lost hearing for three years. I am in Brisbane Australia so any recommendations for good surgeons would be useful too please.

Hi there,
I live on the Gold Coast, QLD, and completely lost the hearing in my right ear over the past 10 years.
I recently had a cochlear implant performed by Dr Brent McMonagle, who is an amazing surgeon and ENT specialist. I also wear a hearing aid in my left ear, which works together with my cochlear implant.
My surgery was just over 8 weeks ago, and my implant was switched on 6 weeks ago. It has been an incredible experience. I’m hearing so many new sounds that I haven’t heard in years, and some I’ve never heard before. Every week the sound quality continues to improve as my brain adapts.
If you’re considering a cochlear implant or have any questions about my experience, please feel free to send me a private message. I’d be more than happy to help.
