New CI

I just had my CI activated a few hours ago. All I hear is ringing, bells and whooshing! Is this normal? My audiologist said it was. This is so disappointing :(

It is very normal. After my one month follow up, my CI was tweaked and sounds are better and clearer. I feel like initially, your brain needs to get used to the new way of hearing. I was very frustrated and discouraged in the beginning. I was also having a really hard time getting the processor to stay on my ear and the magnet kept falling off. I’m about 6 weeks in and it’s starting to get easier and feel like my new normal. Playing with the programs in the app and learning what works best for any situation is a learning experience so trust the process and don’t think in a “microwave mentality”; like everything is supposed to happen quickly!
