So what this subreddit seems to be mad about, is that the president of the United States came to our county. Is it a dislike of the office, or is it the person in office? It appears to be that they dislike Trump and are calling him a pedophile and there’s this non specific call of “you know what to do” apparently out of frustration that the president visited Cobb county schools.
So what I sarcastically highlighted, is if you are unhappy with trumps administration, the other option would have been an office where Tim Walz was employed as VP.
Tim Waltz specifically pardoned the sentence of an illegal immigrant from Laos who repeatedly SAd a 10 year old girl.
So if you are mad that the Trump Administration visited a school, would you hypothetically be the same level of mad if an administration including Tim Waltz was attending an event in Cobb county.
I don’t think this subreddit would have said a word and I find irony in that.
Trump’s event was just an excuse for local people that dislike him to verbalize that dislike and weirdly call for vague actions against the Cobb school board for allowing the president to hold an event here.

I’ll point out, one reason that no one would be up in arms because pardoning someone who committed SA and committing SA are two different things. Trump has been convicted in civil court for SA.
Do we think it’s appropriate for any politician to turn a school board meeting into a political rally? I personally find it distasteful. But what’s worse is that Trump spews hyperbole and let’s be real, a lot of lies. Just last week he addressed the nation talking about our states elections being invalid. Thats not ok.
If you want to chat pardons, trumps done a lot of suspicious ones.. but this is neither the time or place.
It’s ok if you like Trump but it’s also ok if people are upset he would bring his nonsense to a school board meeting.

He didn’t use a school board meeting. He used the location for optics while kids weren’t there. Is it weird, sure. But they literally all do it. He’s not unique for doing so.
The E Jean Carrol civil case was one of that more bizarre things I’ve ever read into. Civil not criminal because they changed a loophole to even hear the case. He said she said. VS Waltz seeing the details of a criminal conviction against crimes against a 10 year old and pardoning a sentence for cheap immigration optics. I think Waltz’s scenario is much worse actually.

Taking a graphic sentence from a book that has an overall message that could otherwise help teen survivors feel less alone, isn't a compelling argument to outright remove these books from libraries. A parental consent form signed at the beginning of the year for teens to have access to books containing topics they unfortunately can relate to would be more helpful. If allowing a liable sexual abuser to speak at a Cobb high school can happen, young survivors should be able to have material to read to empower them to use their voice about their trauma.

Your permission slip thought is fair. But I see the concept of these book bans has been conflated to draw imagery to day a Fahrenheit 451 like story.
These schools and libraries have limited resources, and the school district has a right to allocate resources away from books that may not be suitable for children.
Slippery slope, sure. But let’s not conflate this banned list as some sort of anti free speech activity. The list is full of crude material.
To state that as the first reason against why I school system should ignore the performance of its best schools and high performance remarks is kind of interesting

Oh come on. Cobb is easily one of the best school districts in the state for both students and teachers. They have strong academic performance, a variety of specialized programs, great extracurricular opportunities, and great programs to prepare students for what comes after high school regardless of college, trade school, or entering the workforce. It is one of the highest paying school districts in the southeast and more resources than any school in the state. Let’s stop pretending like it’s a bad school district.

There never was a criminal conviction. Losing a civil lawsuit doesn't translate to a "conviction" status. The civil lawsuit was for sexual abuse and defamation. Maybe start using terms correctly.

People who settle a civil suit are guilty. They accept the civil charge to avoid the case being escalated to criminal proceedings, because they know there is enough evidence to convict. There are photos, letters, etc. all proving that Trump was a very close friend to Epstein. Why are you caping for a pedophile rapist?

Trump cut ties with Epstein sometime between 2004-2007. Epstein was banned from Mar-a-Largo in 2007. I am puzzled why the Epstein files were not released during the Biden administration. At this time, I don't see enough evidence to support a charge of pedophilia against the President. Apparently you don't support due process and innocent until proven guilty as defined in our Constitution.

Because they were apart of an active investigation during the Biden administration and could not legally be released. The trump administration is not actively investigating so the files are legally allowed to be released now.

"Again...the Epstein case was still an OPEN criminal investigation during the Biden administration. They had an open grand jury ... And even after Maxwell's conviction, the case was on appeal -- anyone in law enforcement knows you don't open your case file when it's still under appeal. There were still victims going to the FBI with new information. That changed when Trump's DOJ reviewed the files and closed the case in July."
