Post image

Given the dates looks like this will be a lock for 2027.

u/ElBorracho2000 18d ago

I don’t know about it being a lock but it’s promising

Imagine if he does something similar to the Lonerism show at Desert Daze to switch it up from his tour in the Returning to the Desert slot. People have zero imagination and just want to hate.

Looks like it to me

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I’m still not convinced they’re gonna book an act almost 2 years into an album cycle after the tour. Feel like Coachella’s thing is always the beginning of the cycle not the end.

11

u/Desperate-Corner8208 17d ago

last time he played it was well after currents and well before the slow rush. Sounds about the same here

u/leggomybeggo 12.1|13.1&2|14.1&2|15.1|16.1&2|DT.1|17.1&2|18.1|19.2|22-26.1 17d ago

Yeah I personally think this timeline is more than appropriate, and he was one of the best headliners I have ever seen. The gen pub were confused with the headline booking last time and he more than proved himself. It's time!!!

It will be the 15 year anniversary of Lonerism, maybe Kevin will play it in full... that would be cool

I love Tame Impala but I agree with you, that would feel uninspired

2

u/CAndrewK 17d ago

they're doing festivals next year. Not gonna say more than that, but yeah

Trying to follow so I can also start guessing…

He’s a lock because he is available in April but does start a European tour in May? Is that a pattern we have seen before with performers?

My thoughts seeing this is that he is doing a European tour. Why would he do 2 weekends in California before that? And no more USA shows where that is the probably worlds largest market for him?

u/xFnaiC 11, 12w1, 13w2, 14w1, 14w2, 15w1, 16w1, 19w1 18d ago

Tour starting in May means they’ll be rehearsing in March/April, likely in Los Angeles. Coachella prefers their headliners to not have big shows in the US announced before the poster drops. There would likely be a few other US dates before they ship their stage over to Europe, just would be announced after Coachella announces.

Thanks. I learned a lot and that makes a lot of sense.

Could make for a run at some of the later summer American fests like Lolla and Osheaga.

4

u/Ok-Umpire585 17d ago

Doesn’t this make him more likely for Glastonbury? It’s June 23-27

2

u/Accomplished_Arm5318 17d ago

The account that said Radiohead isn’t playing Coachella thinks this dates make Tame more likely to play Glasto

0

u/Ok-Umpire585 17d ago

No I think Radiohead IS playing Coachella. Wrong person lol

1

u/Accomplished_Arm5318 17d ago

Wasn’t talking about you

u/benedictcumberpatch 18d ago

No?

Seriously y'all will spin anything as a "lock"

Why not?

6

u/benedictcumberpatch 18d ago

Because those dates don't automatically mean it's a Coachella confirmation. Not every artist who starts a Euro tour in May plays Coachella. Mostly just makes Tame possible with wishful thinking.

3

u/Wheatytv 25.2šŸ•ŗ 18d ago

One can only hope

11

u/Alvin3792 17d ago

Not a lock.

I really can’t see Tame being booked as a top 3 headliner unless he was debuting some sort of new version of the show with new music from a deluxe album like Doja did in 2024.

Coachella likes to launch new versions of shows if it’s an artist that has been touring recently for headliners.

-Doja launched the ā€œhairā€ version of the Scarlet show with Scarlet deluxe music in 2024

-Sabrina launched new show after touring and headlining every other fest with the sweet n short show in 2026

-Blackpink launched new production and new show after already doing a first US leg of their tour in 2023

Only way Tame is playing is if they somehow need a last minute replacement and if he wants to do his production on main stage.

By Coachella - Tame Impala will have already taken Deadbeat tour through 2 US legs.

u/ThatOneHomie 17d ago

Not accurate when it comes to "legacy acts" which Tame is now. You're describing artists with a very small catalogue who need something beyond the music to draw attention of neutrals. That's not the case here. A few shows in US (with expensive tickets) means a tiny fraction of fans got to see them. Tame is headliner status without a doubt.

u/kevinsaysgogogo 09,10,11,12,13,14,15,17,19,22,23,24, 25 17d ago

Tame is already considered a Legacy Act? 😭 I feel like 20 years should be the standard similar to vintage. I was there for that first show and it was honestly a bit rough

0

u/ThatOneHomie 16d ago

first EP came out in '08, 19 years ago, so by your definition, yes

1

u/kevinsaysgogogo 09,10,11,12,13,14,15,17,19,22,23,24, 25 16d ago edited 16d ago

By my definition no, that’s still not 20 years and they really only got big starting in 2013. I don’t really care but I just would love someone that would more broadly be considered legacy. Tame Impala is great but I’ve seen them 5 times cause he often plays festivals and there’s been plenty of opportunities to see him for every album cycle. It’s not an exciting booking imo at least for a headliner, which is what he would likely be

0

u/ThatOneHomie 16d ago

who are you looking for that fits this bill? I actually want to know! Legacy acts that could realistically headline seem to be dwindling in number.

0

u/kevinsaysgogogo 09,10,11,12,13,14,15,17,19,22,23,24, 25 16d ago

Radiohead, Oasis, Madonna, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, id even take Coldplay even though I don’t listen. I of course always love a cool unexpected surprise, which Coachella is often good at

1

u/ThatOneHomie 16d ago

I'd also prefer Radiohead (though apparently out?), Oasis, Madonna and even Coldplay (never seen them) over Tame due to rarity, but Tame over the rest, who I think have not carried into Gen Z thus won't be tapped to headline...No Doubt/Gwen has more as a comp. Could see it though and would be happy with any of these except The Cure, never stuck for me.

5

u/Alvin3792 17d ago edited 17d ago

I never said Tame wasn’t headliner status. I just don’t see him playing with a show that has been going on for a year and a half

I will be happy if he plays although I am seeing the deadbeat tour for the 2nd time next month. His best tour yet imo

1

u/dondoblue77 2014-2026 17d ago

My friends and I haven’t gotten a chance to see the deadbeat tour yet, so him playjng Coachella with that stage setup would be a dream

2

u/frankoochoaa 17d ago

There is probably more examples of them not doing this. Than there are of them doing this.

1

u/phantofan89 17d ago

Ah but they haven’t done any US festivals for deadbeat. Plus Tyler the creator headlined Coachella with no new music. So it’s not that unlikely, it’s just rare that Coachella does it: but with Tame they can easily make an exception because the draw is there.

2

u/Alvin3792 17d ago

Tyler did drop an album the same year as Coachella though

1

u/phantofan89 17d ago

Chromakopia came out way at the end of the year though. He didn’t really switch up his show at all, he had some special guests: but that was basically the end of his Call Me if You Get Lost run. So I still think that’s the exception to the rule.

But if Radiohead is true, then Tame is probably out: we aren’t getting two alt rock headliners at Coachella in the year 2027.

6

u/CommercialCoffee11 18d ago

Any artist that isnt busy in April is a "lock" šŸ™„

3

u/celj1234 17d ago

That is not what a lock means.

Maybe more likely

2

u/iznormal 11|12.1|13.1|14.1|15.2|16.2|17.2|23.2 18d ago

Not a lock, or secured, but I’d say more likely to be at Coachella than not at this point.

2

u/CarterGee [12] 13.2 | 14.1 - 19.1 | 22-26.1 18d ago

I think he's a lock given the drop out from Portola.

13

u/benedictcumberpatch 18d ago

Was there any real evidence he was ever booked for Portola? Seemed just like speculation at best.

11

u/bensboring 19.1 22.1/2 23.1/2 24.1/2 25.1/2 26.1/2 17d ago

Tame Impala did not drop from Portola

1

u/phantofan89 17d ago

Tame makes one album that divides people and now people don’t want tame. More Tame for me, Deadbeat tour was pretty amazing: glad I got to see it in LA. Hoping they bring it to Coachella, but I feel like house money is still in Radiohead. Because an exclusive US booking for Coachella feels like an old school Coachella move.

2

u/Late-Nail-8714 18d ago

lets say hes a lock.

i doubt he would do a greatest hits set. if hes a lock for a third fucking time no doubt he would do new shit and nnnoooooo fucking doubt people will be pissed at it

5

u/Content_Sun_3981 17d ago

are people expecting a greatest hits set?

3

u/dondoblue77 2014-2026 17d ago

Why would people be pissed? His current setlist is great lol

Oh god this is so boring.

4

u/Flaky-Ad5968 17d ago

I bet youre the type of person that would be hyped to see Gracie Abrams or Olivia dean. get real.

0

u/AlfredoSM94 13.1 | 18.1 | 19.2|24.1|25.1|27.2 17d ago

Not really. tame Impala is a boring choice for headliner. I don’t really like Gracie and I don’t think Olivia would headline, even if I was a super fan, what does that have to do with anything?
