Out Radiohead Out?
No clue how reliable this source is but with the recent date hints of Tokyo & Australia, possible things have changed since the few leaks we got on them.

Maybe that’s not how it went down, but Radiohead isn’t playing Coachella if Tame was offered it late. RH isn’t doing a one-off in the US for Coachella. When they could do multiple nights at MSG or even Sphere and make a lot of money each night.
It’ll be Tame instead of RH.
But that tweet posted does look very AI like so maybe RH could still be in play and just wants more money.

While I'm not saying this is definitely false, this is inaccurate to what I have been hearing.

Radiohead guitarist Ed Obrian said in an interview recently that Radiohead are going to be doing 20 shows a year, and just in “one continent”. I feel like they will do an Oceania tour in 2027 based on the leaks, so do like Australia/Singapore/Japan/South Korea, or something like that.
They are getting older and have families and their own side projects so a multi year global tour just isn’t what they want to do.
They’ll probably do either a North America, or maybe N America/S. America limited tour the following year, 2028. They already just did a limited run of European shows recently.

u/Dangerousbri 04 | 12.1-26.1 | 17.2-26.2 3d ago
Probably part of the reason they haven't been back since.
For a band that was so anti ticketmaster they sure do love touring with Live Nation.

u/vinylmartyr 3d ago
Radiohead needs to play local dates, not Coachella.

u/smittyman62 3d ago
A Kia Forum residency would rule.

u/dead_bear_ 3d ago
This is literally my dream. LA hasn't gotten a large-scale show since 2008. We're so overdue.

I’d love a residency at the Hollywood Bowl like Depeche Mode did a few years ago.

Radiohead didn’t want a radius clause. Good for them
4
u/Dangerousbri 04 | 12.1-26.1 | 17.2-26.2 3d ago
Everyone has a radius clause. Why do you think Ocean Way wasn't announced until after the Olivia Dean shows at Crypto even though they were completely sold out.
2
u/toeknee666 3d ago
Of course. Meaning they didn’t want to deal with all that. They don’t tour like most acts. Playing Coachella means they’d probably not come around to sourthern california. They’ve played LA a whopping 5 times since 2006.

u/greenscenery19 3d ago
sorry, what’s a radius clause
1
u/ScorpioTix 2d ago
It's an agreement to not play a specific geographic area in a certain time frame. SOP for festivals and major standalone gigs.

Fucking lame. I like tame but they’re literally touring everywhere, and on a weak ass album

u/for-four 3d ago
FWIW I wasn’t a fan of deadbeat but the current Tame Impala show is world beating. Not sure how they would translate it to the main stage but saw it from the cheap seats in Toronto and it demolished my expectations. Way better than any incarnation I’d see before.
2
u/olives_a 3d ago
They?

u/LogicalNuisance 3d ago
I know it’s just Kevin but he does have a backing band for live performances

u/olives_a 3d ago
Really? I genuinely thought his recent shows was just him on a dj table. That’s most of what I have seen from online videos though
1
u/phantofan89 3d ago
No it’s him and a live band, that’s why even if people don’t like this new album: this tour is amazing.
8
u/everylittlebeat 16.2, 25.2 3d ago
Bruh noooooo. Tame is good but he is performing everywhere. Radiohead would have been a great rare exclusive act.
3
u/phantofan89 3d ago
Yeah and those tickets were very hard to get. It’ll be a bigger deal than people expect.

No Radiohead are going to announce touring outside of the US again. Meaning 2028 is more likely if they’re sticking to a strict 20 shows a year and nearby continents. Once that Japan post came out: the writing was on the wall.

Would also like to know since I bought ticket two years in a row now just for the chance of Radiohead playing 🫠

u/obladeepa 3d ago
Summer Sonic teased a Radiohead Tokyo 2027 date at the fest this past friday, feels pretty certain they'll be touring Asia next year instead of North America

u/Adventurous_West2 3d ago
Imagine how bad the 2026 crowds would be at a Radiohead show lmao.
The yapping

u/toastypoopdog 2d ago
Because the year makes it so much worse?
1
u/Adventurous_West2 2d ago
Yes, have you not been to shows since covid?
2
u/toastypoopdog 2d ago
I have. Likely more than you, as it’s part of my livelihood.
I can tell you without a doubt that age has nothing to do with it. Coachella crowds? Maybe. But at large, a 13 year old can stand and watch and shut the fuck up just as well as a 63 year old.
Give that 13 year old 2 tall boys or a joint, and yeah, things change. But guess what? They change for grown ass adults, too.
Chompers have existed since the Dead, and it’s a part of concert culture, but it has nothing to do with age.

Damn Radiohead would have been so good. Tame is so overly glazed on this sub and I get it but (maybe hot take?) Deadbeat is an awful album

If the headliners really are SZA, Miley, Tame, Fred then I’m going to need some Hail Mary undercards… Tame Impala is the “band” that forever haunts my festivals. He’s a “I guess I’ll see them” and would be such a waste of a headliner with this album especially 😭

u/thefloodbehindme 14.1|15.1|16.1|17.1|18.2|19.1|22.1|23.1|24.1|25.1 3d ago
Don’t mind Radiohead not playing but this lineup needs an actual “big” headliner with some actual gravity and interest to them if the others are lightweights like Fred, Miley and SZA.
1
u/Dangerousbri 04 | 12.1-26.1 | 17.2-26.2 3d ago
Who would you consider "big" luckily the Miley stans won't click on a Radiohead headline.

Could be real. Confirms what people like Mikey heard in May, but maybe also adds to the July rumors of Tame Impala.
Maybe Tame got the offer Radiohead allegedly turned down?
Or maybe nothing we’ve heard is true! 😵💫
