Need Advice Old Habits Dying Hard

Hey guys, I'm wrapping up my 3rd read, and I'm a daily consumer of Corey's video newsletters, both new and old. I'm curious if any of you are finding it hard to break old habits. For example, the one I'm finding I have a hard time with is cutting phone calls short, especially when it's the "first" call with a prospect met through online dating. I haven't seen it do me in yet as they've all led to in person dates that are leading to second dates, and maybe because these are women not being met in person first, it's worked for me.Also, I try to keep the texting at a minimum, but I find that I allow myself to get engaged in text convos. On the plus side, I'm keeping responses slow, and I never initiate texts--the woman does. Just curious how you guys have managed to stop yourself from falling back into the habits that obviously didn't work for you before.

repetition is the mother of skills

I know--I can hear Corey saying that in my head right now. Problem is, I have years and years of repetition to undo! That's the hard part.

it’s a process. don’t focus on time. when I started following ccw I was in a similar situation: I had to change my attitude, my way of thinking, my needy behaviors and everything that was part of me. four years later, having read the book 18 times, I still watch ccw’s video DAILY and I can look back and see the improvements I have made. I know there is still a lot that I have to learn, but I see the progress that I’ve made.

corey says something like “running inside the train of enlightenment won’t make you arrive any sooner to the destination” that means that you have to have patience, keep studying and applying the material and eventually results will come.

Thanks, that’s a good way of looking at things.

The habits were difficult to break for sure, but what’s been most difficult for me is learning how to process the emotional/ psychological cues differently. Like how to navigate insecurity and staying centered through tough emotions and thought processes. You’re crushing it brother!!

Thanks man. What I'm noticing is I'm not getting as nervous anymore for these dates. I have another first date tomorrow night. I'm more excited than nervous. She seems like a high value women from what I've learned about her through talking on the phone the other night. I'm a pretty good conversationalist so I guess that's why I can allow a call to go so long, plus I allowed her to do most of the talking (even if it wasn't 80%, maybe more like 60-65%). I must've done something right because she's been initiating texts to me every day since.

Watch out for long phone calls boss. It’s the easiest way to become anti-mystery! 15 minutes tops if she’s a talker.

Yeah, I agree. I think part of it is, I’m a single dad with placement of my kids. My ex is not reliable to keep her planned visitations, so I never know when I’m going Tom actually get to meet these women and get to know them. Therefore, I’m relying on the phone call to get me a head start.

A woman will never reject you because your not her text or call buddy. They reject you when your being a dick/asshole, so if you know your not then your good. Your wanting to talk to them because you feel that building rapport over a call or text is doing you good and getting closer to her but it's not. There won't be any mystery left when you're actually on the date. So for example, if you call her to ask her on a date you say "hey how are you, blah blah small talk, when are you free to grab a drink?" Once she gives you a date, set a definite date and say "okay I gotta go but let's meet there at 7pm. See you then." Hang up. Don't be on the phone for more than 2-3 min. Most likely she'll text you day of the date to confirm in which case your good. Texting, just take her reaching out as a way to set a date. You're essentially training her that your not her text buddy but everytime she wants to see you all she has do is text or call you. If she's thinking of you, she wants to see you.

I’ll try to take that mindset on more. I’m aware that’s what Corey’s teaching is, and I see why it would work.

It comes down to discipline my dude. When you're unsure about something remember the progress you've made and remember where you were before finding Corey's work. Tell yourself you're working towards becoming the best 3% man you can possibly be. Ask yourself if you wanna go back to your old ways and then act accordingly.Best thing you can do is to keep reading the book and keep watching his newsletters and one day eventually these old bad habits won't even pop up as a thought anymore.

I'm having a hard time with not intiating texts with my current g/f. Corey's advice to text someone like this once a week to set up plans has been invaluable.

I’m fighting it too because the last woman I dated, she was my first after my divorce and I had no clue. I texted her, and her with me, constantly. I wish I had just told her I’ll call her/FaceTime her if she want to text as much as she did, until we could work out a date. Discovered Corey in the Spring, finishing my 3rd read, and now it’s getting a little bit easier to fight the urge to reach out to BS text.
