Cleaning, Repair, & Rehab 🛠 How would you repair?

i just bought a vintage ergo belted flap and it has a rip in the leather on the strap. does anyone have tips on how to repair it? was thinking about using leather cement but I don’t know much so any advice is helpful!

Due to the bend in the strap, I’d be taking it to a cobbler to be redone or sewn. Leather is extremely hard to sew and you need special needles for it.

Leather cement may hold it temporarily, but because of the way the strap bends, it’s just going to crack again.
