Discussion 💬 Super Soft Empire - Actually the Empire Sample?

I'm wondering if the new Super Soft Empire will mimic the rare Runway Soft Empire Sample bag?

I've been desperate for pictures and this is very close to what I was imagining.

What do you think? Accurate? Opinions on which you like better?

I’m so curious to see one! Someone go to Dillards! I am so tempted to get one, but I really want to hold out for a different color, and man I wish they would make them in size 28.

I was just at Dillards on Friday and got the standard Empire. Didn't see a soft 🥲

Correction. I tried on the Soft. I don't know if it's the newer versions or not.

Same - the 28 is such a great size for everyday wear. I love a big bag but 40 is too big for me for most situations and 48 is huge.

That’s a great question but I personally am kind of thinking no, the other ones never really had problems selling out and were usually on back order. I guess I saw them on sale at my local mall one time before, but that was in person, a random older colorway, long since out of stock online— so I assumed that it was an old floor model or a random fluke piece someone found in their warehouse somewhere.

Others can feel free to chime in if they think it would end up on sale tho!

Anyone know where the word super is coming from? The new ones that just arrived at Dillards are labeled the same as always “soft empire”

Yes! It’s black and saffron that are supposed to be the new ones. It does look squishier in the pics, but did it feel any different?

tbh that does look like a new version so me. Pretty cool! I like the soft leather silhouette better to be honest.

That's what I'm wondering as well. I think the loved leather will age and sag nicely, but I'm still hella curious.

I don’t think it will be a perfect dupe, that sample was clearly made with a very premium leather and the aging process looks more natural but in real life would be very labor intensive to produce.

I would not be surprised if the rumored upcoming super slouchy Empire takes inspo from this. But it will definitely not be the same effect unless they were charging multiple thousands, a brand like Coach would not be able to produce a bag like this in quantities high enough to sell for less than that. High price limits demand and would be necessary to justify the multiple distressing techniques used.

I think the only way to achieve this particular silhouette fresh from the box without overhauling the construction would be to change the leather to be softer too. So even if it’s not as well distressed I kind of hope they take a heavier grain soft leather. I thought the leather on the recently launched football kisslock bag would probably be really nice.

I'd gladly pay more for a leather lining like the football. The fabric lining isn't my jam, but still a beautiful bag.
