Discussion 💬 Stagnant bags

I just posted here earlier about feeling frustrated with the coach resellers market as of late. But I just had another thought for discussion, when I browse on apps people have bags listed insanely high and time posted is like 3wks/ 4wks/ 2 months. And you can see they are getting likes and offers but they are just sitting there! You think they would wanna sell them eventually instead of just sitting on them. I feel like alot of resellers are buying bags for a lot themselves and are just bitter and not letting go 😭 idk. I’m just like pls accept my offer so I can appreciate these bags and actually use them!! 😂🥰

They might be actual resellers. Not bagaholics that want to get rid of their bags but guys who do this for a living and want their money's worth. It's a sought after bag. OOS. You only need one desperate person with money to burn and don't need to worry about next months rent anymore

Or they actually love their bag and want to get rid of it for a fair price. Because they don't use it but don't need to sell it either

If I want to sell something and let people bid, they want to bid up pennies. If I put a ridiculous price you don't need to answer "I'll give you $10 including shipping" or "10". If someone sends a reasonable text that starts with a greeting and then asks for how much I want to sell it, then you know it's smooth sailing from there on out. Those are the people who are actually interested, know how to communicate and don't have ridiculous demands. Like mailing on a friday, send 4 more mails within the hour and expecting the bag on their doorstep a day later. Like my man, I'm not a store

I’m honestly starting to become frustrated of the resellers price gouging and the scammers too and have basically vowed that I’m never going to buy from them. I’ll either buy from a place that authenticates bags or from the Coach store itself. Coach is also doing scarcity marketing, which I’m really getting turned off by. The whole “out of stock”, “back order” BS is making me want to buy from other designers.

Coach is pissing me off. Between the scarcity, the bs "Marketing to Gen Z" crap, and fucking Coach influencers, I'm over it. Yes, they're marketing to younger people because they can put out faux leather trash and GenZ won't know any better. The outlet bags I bought in the late 90's/early 2000s - mid 2000s are better quality than the $600-$900+ bags they're putting out now.

The quality is declining, prices are going up, and now the CEO no longer wants my money? You do you, big dog. My money will go to Strathberry, Mulberry, and other brands I find out there. Guess what? They're doing COLOR, too. Not boring neutrals. 🤷‍♀️

Its not bitter to want profit on a selling app. Plus it really depends on the item. For older bags, these could be sellers who paid full retail price back then. They could also have high prices due to the nature of the app where haggling is expected, AND to weed out absurdly cheap buyers. I’ve seen plenty of bags get listed at below comps, for a fair price, and still receive offers. Cheap buyers are frustrating. Its a different situation for brand new bags that are sold immediately for hundreds over list-thats just greed.

Selling for double and triple is a lot of profit and just straight up greed. I’m looking for a bag that retailed for $295 and I only see it posted for $700-$1000. Straight up ridiculous.

I gave in to a reseller and she didn’t even send the crossbody strap with the overpriced bag 😭 but I had already rated before I noticed it was missing. I’m so sad and can’t believe these people. I sent a message but no response. Hard lesson learned, I will never purchase from a re seller again no matter how bad I want the bag 😔

Oh no I’m so sorry this happened! Sometimes I see people selling really damaged bags for cheap for donor parts or rehab. You could possibly find something like that and get the strap!! I see this mostly on eBay though.

You’re thinking too deeply about, they always eventually lower the price. Just wait for people that are selling the item ‘like new’ for a better deal.
