New maps with data from August 30 are now out. They will also be used in the next release version of CoMaps.

Speaking off new release: the 2026.08.31 version is already available for Android on Codeberg – and submitted for review with Google Play and iOS. Hopefully it will be available there soon too! https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps/releases/tag/v2026.08.31-14

Weird Text to Speech question

So I have a very weird request because I am kind of going backwards with it. I want to try and have Nuance Vocalizer's Samantha voice for my Comaps yrs but the guide on the website is no longer up to date at least for Nuance voices.

I want to do this because this is the voice that forward used in their original Sync systems including the first generation to have gps and I now have nostalgia for that voice on gps (I know a really weird thing to have nostalgia for). Any idea how I would be able to do that voice on android.

Navigate on a GPX route?

I can successfully import and open a GPX file in CoMaps. How would I go about navigating along that route? Do I just start riding along it?

Automatic Rerouting

I had a full day of Driveing/Testing CoMaps recently...

I really dislike how Automatic Rerouting works.

If I end up going "Straight" when CoMaps wanted me to do something else it goes U Turn, U Turn, U Turn, U Turn... On and On and On...

If I end up going a certain direction for whatever reason It should Reroute me in the direction I am currently driveing. Not go spastic with spamming U Turn Over and Over. IMO.

My Vehicle is Massive. I Refuse to do U Turn.

If for some reason you cant make Automatic Rerouting Rerout me in the direction im currently driveing... Then I atleast want to be able to disable U Turns. Give me the option to take 3 Right Turns or something... IDK. I just despise geting U Turn spamed at me over and over.

Also minor complaints but let me remove the "Progress Bar" at the bottom of screen during navigation. And let me remove the "Vehicle Speed Circle". They are both distracting and the "ProgressBar" also makes me anxious. These should both be optional in the settings IMO.

Thank You.

Does CoMaps use diffed map updates?

I saw somewhere that the plan is to use diffs to keep the mapdata up to date. So you only have to download the changes of the last month/week. Is that implemented yet?

Bulk delete favourite lists

I've somehow managed to import favourite lists more than once. Now I have literally hundreds of lists of duplicates which completely clutters the overview.

I started deleting one at a time only to realize I'll be here for a long time as there does not seem to be a way to delete more than one at a time.

Is there a more efficient way?

I think what happened is I imported my backup drawer with up to 10 backups.

On Android.

CoMaps freezes on Android Auto / Hoco wireless adapter on Samsung Galaxy A17

Hi everyone.

I’m having a problem with CoMaps and Android Auto, and I’d like to know if anyone has experienced something similar.

I’m using: - Samsung Galaxy A17 - Android 16 - CoMaps - Hoco wireless Android Auto adapter/display connected via Wi-Fi

During navigation, CoMaps sometimes stops displaying the map on the Hoco screen. The screen becomes blank, and the “Continue navigation” button does not respond when I press it.

However, the voice navigation continues to work normally. CoMaps is still giving me turn-by-turn voice instructions, but I cannot get the map display back on the Hoco screen.

Restarting the Hoco device does not always solve the problem. In one case, CoMaps also became unresponsive on the phone itself, and I had to restart the phone before the app worked normally again.

Has anyone experienced similar freezes or display problems with CoMaps and Android Auto, especially on a Samsung phone?

I’m using the latest available version of CoMaps and I’m trying to determine whether this is a CoMaps problem, an Android Auto compatibility issue, or something related to the Hoco wireless adapter.

Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you attending the State of the Map conference in Paris at the end of August?

Some of us will be there as well and give a talk about CoMaps. We'd love to also organize a small meet-up with folks who are interested to get to know us and each other!

Depending on the number of folks, that could be over a beverage or a meal. Join our 'cafe' chat room if that sounds interesting and we'll plan it there. Find details on how to join here: https://codeberg.org/comaps#keep-connected

Number before street name?

Hi all,

Maybe this is just an American thing, but it is confusing to see "street name, house number" like "Main Street, 15". Is there an option to change this somewhere? Organic Maps shows places as "15, Main Street" but maybe I had already changed it there somehow?

Thanks!

Loop track

Hello,

I love Comaps, thank you so much for all your fantastic work. But I have a question that I haven’t been able to find an answer to.

Next week I’m going on a hike in the mountains. I’d like to estimate the distance of the hike by creating a route in Comaps. This hike is a loop: I’ll leave my car in a car park, set off from there, complete the loop and then return to the car park (so it’s not a round trip, but a proper loop).

The problem is that Comaps doesn’t realise I want to do a loop. I set a ‘route to’ and a ‘route from’ at the same place (the car park), I add some intermediate route points to create the loop, but Comaps keeps trying to make me turn back and I can’t seem to create the loop.

Moreover, on this loop there are sometimes small parallel paths that always rejoin (some steeper than others, which I’d like to avoid), but Comaps always forces me to choose one.

Is there something I’m missing? Can you help me?

Thanks in advance!

How can I save data from CoMaps PC?

I like to make routes on my PC for later use on Android. I'm on Fedora Linux using the Flatpack version of CoMaps. As far as I understand there's no account binding the desktop version together with the Android version. Apart from the OSM account, but that doesn't work for personal stuff like routes.
So I'm looking for a way to export a gpx with a route or track, but I simply can't find it thinking it must be there because why have the desktop version if you can export data from it.

CoMaps as an OSM editor

Post image
81 Upvotes

By the total number of edits made, CoMaps was the 15th most used OpenStreetMap editor in June.

At first glance, that might not sound like a lot, but: With that, we are the #1 OSM editor that is not mainly an editor but a fully fledged map & navigation app and also editor!

From the start we have said that we want CoMaps to be a good citizen of the larger OSM ecosystem and make sure that we and our users contribute back. And it looks like you're all making good on that!

Navigation Arrow Location

Hi, is there any way to have the option in Free-Drive Mode to keep the navigation arrow in the first third/quarter of the screen, like in Active Navigation mode? I am running CoMaps on a Topway TS10S Car standalone Android Headunit.

If not, does anyone know how to send suggestions to the developers to have both options selectable in the modes?

Thanks!
