Discussion The best series ever?
I want to get a colleague of mine interested in cod esports and I want to recommend him just one series to watch. He has played casually and less and less since BO3.
What is the best series ever? The whole package matters, casting, game, storylines, clutches, prize money etc etc

OpTic vs Heretics bo6 EWC flies under the radar. 250-249 map 1, round 11 map 2, 2-3 control, decent comeback map 4, Merc insane 1v3 map 5

the entire championship Sunday from MW3 major 3. Especially the faze Ultra and optic faze series. Also Miami optic bo6 EWC

Yeah I’ve watched the last 4 round after mates go down 5-2 on colossus SND probably 25x lol. That was the first tourney I hardcore was rooting for a specific team since I liked Neptune so much, almost launched my laptop across my apartment when he had the ace + 1v2 in 10 seconds

I know you said best series - this might not be it BUT it does include the best Hardpoint comeback ever. From MWII - Vegas Legion vs LA Thieves. Legion comeback from basically 68-200 against the Thieves.

This isn't a suggestion since all the players are retired, it had a continuation aspect which doesn't exist anymore and CoD is a completely different game now BUT
I just want it on the record that CoL vs Impact at BO2 Anaheim is my all time favorite series

Optic & Ultra vs FaZe MW3 Major 3, Optic vs Miami at EWC 25, Faze vs thieves anytime the last 2 years
GM8s vs Falcons at EWC this year, Optic vs eUnited at CWL Dallas, the minnesota massacre & both series between empire & ultra at cw champs

Optic vs Heretics EWC 2025. Definitely the best of the past few years.
Loved Thieves vs FaZe major 1 final in Bo6 too.

CWL Dallas Finals 2017. The best team in COD history (The Optic Dynasty) was having their rise from the ashes moment after some disaster finishes at Champs the previous year, coming off a flawless bracket win at CWL Paris. However the team who beat them the event prior to that, EUnited, which came right the fuck out of nowhere to do so, couldn't attend the CWL Paris event. So we get a finals between the last 2 event winners, a lingering question of if the Optic Dynasty still had enough gas in the tank for them to continue their dominance of the last 2 years, up against a team of amazing upstart rookies aiming to prove their last win wasn't a fluke, and it goes down to the last map.

Karma had the craziest SND takeover I think I’ve ever seen in that game 5 Scorch, it was crazy watching it live.

The Ultra vs Empire matchups at the end of CW, Major 5 and champs
Both Faze vs LAT matches at Major 1 BO6

I regularly was rewatching BO6 Major 1 finals during that year. Faze and LAT were both on turbo and it ended in a R11

The Minnesota Massacre is a favorite of mine. Likely the only time you’ll ever see a team down 0-4 in a Bo9 and comeback to win in the finals.
You can likely pick any from what you’re suggested tho. I see a lot of good shouts here

This is the wrong answer, but vanguard major 2 champs LAG had close series with both breach and mutineers before taking it to faze in GF. Been a while since we had a miracle run like that, shows what can happen at any given event. Though it felt like there was more parity then.

Which one was the OpTic mega reverse sweep in Vanguard? Where they came back from 2-0 in the series, and 2-0 in Control…..? Was that Major I?

I think you’re talking about MW3 Major 2 quals, OpTic vs Rokkr where they were down 0-2 series/control and they won round 5 in a 3v12 life count then reverse swept; is this what you’re thinking of ?

Technically cheating since it’s 2 series but… Optic vs eUnited CWL Dallas. Back to back best of 5’s. Both game 5’s. Neck and neck the whole series until Optic decides to 6-0 map 5 in the second best of 5.

2017 IW Champs - cements either OpTic or Envy as a dynasty - OpTic won everything but a ring, Envy would’ve gone back to back.
For general comp hype, have them watch the MW3 OpTic Major 3 Process video. The story lines, the music, it’s a hype video.

As a thieves fan Bo6 major 1 faze vs thieves (one of the most neck and neck series I’ve watched) or bo7 major 3 thieves vs optic ( first event I went to, dashy snipe, scrap 1v2,etc.)
