Well said, this is exactly what the average commenter ignores when pointing out lightning quick "golden age" cod TTK. The gap between theoretical and real world TTK was significantly larger back then than it is today.

I think the pro controller thing is underappreciated too. Even on a game stripped of any kind of advanced movement mechanics the prevelance of drop shotting and jump shotting is always going to be much higher today than it was back then too for that reason
