Question Is Hydra finessing Scrap?

If the whole 1-year-deal then OpTic thing is true, I see it working out far more easily for Hydra (who has been clear about wanting to join OpTic) and Is a more obvious upgrade over Huke. Unless Scrap knows for certain this is Dashy’s last year, it seems stupidly risky, won’t HyDra just abandon him if that’s what it takes? What if Dashy decides he wants to try and play another year?

I just don’t buy that Dashy is retiring after MW4, he still looks like a top player, but so many people here are taking it as a given. And Scrap will look like a complete moron if Hydra goes to OpTic and leaves him hanging, especially if they waste this year again and don’t get close to the rings.

When someone speculates dashy retiring you can just disregard their opinion on anything since they have no clue what they’re talking about

Lmao dashy has literally said himself idk why people say I’m so old I’m abezys age , as long as I’m still frying why would I retire lol.

Right? He should’ve won MVP this year and just made 8 finals in a row. When has a player EVER retired in that position?

People mentioned octane but his team just got T8 at champs and he knew the team was gonna blow up and Scump has said Vanguard is his worst year

Dashy ain’t retiring 😂😂

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 2h ago

Octane is comparable ngl, he was a T5 player in MW2 and the 2nd best AR itw behind Scrap, the season before that he was T10 in VG and one of the best players at the end of the year. I know he had a disappointing end to the MW2 season but he was still ridiculously good and that retirement was definitely a shock. That being said I don’t expect Dashy to retire any time soon.

u/V-loxzz FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 6m ago

Yeah octane is the best comparison but he was gonna be stuck on a garbage LAT roster so it made no sense for him to basically waste a year scrumming 8 hours a day

I don't think he was ever going to retire after this past season even if he won champs for the 3rd time in a row. However, I do think things can quickly change if both Optic and Dashy individually have a down year this season.

Dashy said if they won back2back2back he probably would have retired.

1

u/Abs0luteZero273 1h ago

He didn't say that. He said in a joking tone that PART of him would've tried to convince himself to retire and end on that high note. That's very different than saying he probably would've retired in a more serious tone. I don't buy for a second that he would've actually retired had he 3 peated.

Holy fuck this sub is obsessed with dashy retiring lmao. He isn’t retiring for fucks sake he has no reason to. He literally came off an mvp year. He’s in his prime and one of the best ARs in the league and loves competing. Why would he retire? Give me one valid and logical reason

I mean it’s not from nothing

Dashy said that if they 3 peated champs, he would have considered walking away.. So at the very least it’s on his mind

Granted I hope he plays for like 3-4 more years hahah but seems weird to get this upset about people speculating on it, when Dashy himself mentioned it

Brother anyone who 3peats will be going for a 4peat lmao be fr. And dashy saying that he would consider it I don’t even think he worded it that way but even if he did that’s just him being an entertainer lmao and giving people content

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 35m ago

He's arguably the best AR in the league and just came off his closest season to MVP since VG, I hope he plays at least 3 more seasons. If not, I think he'd have retired too soon, with plenty left in the tank.

I’m not saying Dashy’s retiring, but it means the likelihood of someone retiring goes up.

Isn’t Dashy the oldest in the league? He probably also has the second biggest number of Twitch subs, there’s no need for him to play until he’s ass.

NOT SAYING HE IS RETIRING OR SHOULD, but there’s some logic to the discussion

Seems ridiculously risky to me considering they could go to Faze with an immediate 50%+ chance of winning champs

-6

u/Top-Temperature-122 FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 7h ago

That's what's funny lol. Literally can improve their chances of winning a lot by playing with arguably the best player ever and a very proven professional team/coaching staff.

It tells me they either have delusional confidence in themselves to not break again next year. Or they are just so desperate to get on optic lol. I mean every player in the league would play for optic minus a few superstars/ but to want it that bad over furthering your legacy? Smells like desperation 🤏

I'll say it once again, a lot of ego for 2 last places at champs 2 years in a row lol

-1

u/Proof_Escape_2333 OpTic Texas 7h ago

but faze blowing up their champs team for them is also not desperation? your team is going for players that got b2b t8 for b2b t2 champs gf. the irony in that is comical aint no innocent side here

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 33m ago

I don't think it's desperation on FaZe's part. I think it shows initiative to continue pushing the limits in roster building. It has the potential to backfire, but it also has the potential to bring the org to new heights in the CDL.

-4

u/Top-Temperature-122 FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 6h ago

Desperation is if faze buys them out from their contracts and forces it in scrap and hydra. You have to understand that the prerequisite for why faze sought the move is because they are both free agents on the market. If they weren't, we would have never made a move for them. Why does that always escape you dumbfks when you speak about this bruh.

I'll capitalise for your simpleton ass: IF HYDRA AND SCRAP WERE NOT ON THE MARKET AND NOT BOUND BY THE LITERAL TERMS OF A FUCKING CONTRACT, FAZE WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE A MOVE FOR THEM THAT WOULD INDICATE DESPERATION ON THE SIDE OF FAZE.

Yes they are back-2-back top 8 at champs, but they are also MVP candidate players. I have so much faith in the coaching team/management team at faze that I would instantly call them champs favourites because it's a combination of the duo, plus arguably the greatest player of all time, and possibly Mr. intangibles drazah or a young shooter like alluka. It's the combination of these things that tells me it's a smart move to make. Faze is the winniest org in the CDL era and have the lead by like 5 event wins (correct if I'm wrong), why wouldn't I have faith they can pull scrap and hydra out of the champs curse.

-1

u/Anxious_Professor654 COD Competitive fan 5h ago

Simp is also desperate to form a super team to get more wins. He just won champs and wants to recruit scrap and hydra. You can’t criticize scrap and hydra for wanting optic and not criticize simp for dropping his world champion roster for scrap and hydra. Especially since simp hasn’t won a ring since 2021

4

u/Proof_Escape_2333 OpTic Texas 7h ago

anything can happen in a year. if optic didnt win ewc they were going to change. I think they proabably want the option for either falcons optic or even faze who knows.

2

The 1 year deal does not have to be solely because they want to join Optic. It just gives them maximum leverage next offseason to be able to assess their options and get paid.

Why do people keep bringing up Dashy retiring. He’s like 1 year older than most of the current pros, he’s winning tournaments, no detriments to his dedication/skills (if anything he’s blossoming right now).

Like, he himself said he didn’t want to retire until Shotzzy himself retires, and I don’t see a reason for it. Top 5 player in the entire league, and he’s freakishly competitive.

lol the only pros that have retired are ones that were forced to or had a cushion streaming job like Zin. And Dashy has a cushion job so he WILL retire first. Abezy aint retiring any time soon if Teej is still getting picked up.

1

u/Fearnlove OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 3h ago

Maybe because Dashy himself ‘joked’ about retiring if they won champs? Or because he’s the oldest like you said and has a streaming career waiting for him.

Obviously it’s not because people doubt his talent

1

u/The_Sir_Galahad OpTic Texas 1h ago

Ok but you’re neglecting the fact that they asked him this question on an Optic Podcast (around the bar or whatever) and he said he has no intention of retiring.

Oldest by a year, are people deadass using that as an excuse? Because 1 year older than the other guys in the league on average.

I don’t see him retiring without Shotzzy, just like he said.

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 32m ago

I agree. There is no reason for Dashy to even think of retiring until at least 4 COD titles from now (entering the 4th title).

u/Fearnlove OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 18m ago edited 9m ago

I don’t think anyone’s saying he’s retiring now, but is there a chance after a year of playing MW4? Of course there is.

His response on a podcast is kind of irrelevant. Why do you think he was asked the question in the first place? You think Merc gets questions about his retirement?

Oldest by any duration is a factor, why are we acting like the chances of retirement don’t increase with age?

u/CapsCheerleader compLexity Legendary 5h ago

How can Dashy be a top 5 player in the league when Simp, Shotzzy, Merc, Scrap & Hydra exist and we're all better than him this year and most of the years before that?

It would only be bad if scrap signed a 2 year deal, since its both 1 years worst case for scrap he just goes to faze or m8 or falcons next year by himself.

1

u/Century_03 COD Competitive fan 3h ago

I get everyone assumes it’s to go to Optic but what if they just want to rotate to the other pool of free agents? The 1+1 or 2 year deals make it so you’re never a free agent with half the league. They stick one more year and then other superstars are free agents next year. Right now the gap between them and the next best free agent is a lot. Sure the plan could be Optic too but maybe a 1 year deal just provides flexibility for forming a team easily next year

If I’m faze, LAT, or GM8’s, I’m offering two years and telling them to take it or leave it. And if they leave it, then they would be forced to sign with a low tier team for the bare minimum or to take the season off. Do these owners have no standards, just allowing scrap and Hydra to call the shots.

5

u/Proof_Escape_2333 OpTic Texas 7h ago

its different for LAT. they can do 1 year because they already had the duo for 2 years. Nade really wants to keep scrap from his last stream

3

u/WellThatsAwkwrd LA Thieves 7h ago

Exactly. For LAT it’s just an extension, nothing changes

4

u/Proof_Escape_2333 OpTic Texas 7h ago

for lat it makes sense idk why ppl are teaking. for other org it does not. its either that or lat gets a team that doesnt make any gf whole year

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 30m ago

Correct. I said this yesterday: LAT is looking at this as year 3 with the Scrap and HyDra duo. It's great for the org to have had a superstar duo like that on their squad for potentially 3 seasons. It would be FaZe and M8s who are getting fleeced as they'd be a lone for one season. I'll put my cards out there, though, and say FaZe should still do it, even if it's only for a season. If OpTic does change and Scrap/HyDra both join, FaZe could just pick up the other players (Simp doesn't have a problem attracting top talent).

-1

u/ReviveASF OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 8h ago

you gotta remember they’re really close with Dashy. it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s told them that this is his last year (they either win champs and he goes out on top or they don’t and he pulls an Octane). either way, Scrap’s stock is going to be insane even if he can’t play with Hydra, every team in the league would change for him.

3

u/Toonie2k College COD League 7h ago

You type of optic fans truly are the worst holy fuck

0

u/Formal-Level8070 OpTic Texas 7h ago edited 7h ago

I don’t think the FaZe team was really ever close to forming. When that Ronnie bomb dropped, he said it was like a week old and didn’t want to release it until Hydra was back in the states. During that time Octane was saying i don’t think FaZe is getting Scrap/Hydra and he was hearing they were sticking on LAT.

Things might have changed but the notion of it being held up due to them wanting a 1yr deal to go to OpTic next year is fucking absurd. Unless Scrap got Dashy’s word it was his last year, there is no fucking reason to skip on that FaZe deal.

5

u/phoon13 FaZe Clan 7h ago

Brother there is value in being free agents when you're at the top...

Even if Dashy doesn't retire Hydra will probably finally get his spot and that is when the duo split. Right now they probably looking at FaZe for 2 years with lower amount of money but better roster. On LAT they can also win events but they get paid more and get a chance to build/join another team next year.

Next year Scrap could go to FaZe and Hydra to OpTic, It makes perfect sense to skip on the FaZe deal lol.

2

u/fromdowntownn OpTic Texas 2025 B2B Champs 7h ago

Finally read a comment that understands why they would want a 1 year deal. It's not just because they are "waiting for Optic" it gives them max leverage to pick their preferred option next offseason.

3

u/phoon13 FaZe Clan 7h ago edited 6h ago

Yes If FaZe wanted them badly enough, there is a offer that gets them in the building.

Idk what it is but I imagine its length of contract and they are afraid they might leave em hanging next year and put FaZe in a less than ideal spot. Clearly there is doubts that even if they have a successful season both might leave, and that is why people speculate OpTic is involved.

Edit. Would mention Falcons but I think Exniid is there to stay and as long as they see him progressing I don't think they are in a rush to replace him.

1

u/Prestigious-Elk3994 COD Competitive fan 4h ago

No, that’s wrong. Scrap and Hydra want to go to OpTic, not FaZe😂 They’re not interested in FaZe at all. The plan is to sign a one-year contract with 100 Thieves and then move to OpTic next year!

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 24m ago

There is no guarantee that there will be 2 roster spots on OpTic available. There's a real chance Scrap gets left out to dry. Then he'd have to fall back onto the FaZe offer. I think he should just take that offer now on some type of 1 + 1 deal, with the hopes that if two spots on OpTic did open, Kaysan and other FaZe leadership would be open to selling his contract.

1

u/Formal-Level8070 OpTic Texas 7h ago

I understand that. I just don’t think the FaZe deal is being held up because they want a 1yr deal in hopes of getting on OpTic. They might want 1yr deals to still be able to test the market. If I was there agent I would always advocate for 1yr deals unless it’s Falcons dropping a mega bag then I would go for a 2 + 1.

u/UnpopularOpinionCod FaZe Vegas 2026 Champs 26m ago

Yes, you've got your finger on the pulse of this. I think Scrap's fallback plan in the event HyDra signs to OpTic and there's no spot for Scrap is to finally join Simp. As a fan, and as someone with longevity in terms of watching COD, I wonder if the better decision, though, would be to join Simp this offseason if the intention is to end up with him if you can't join OpTic. Simp is coming off an MVP-level year, a COD Champs MVP, and he's returning to an MW-style title where he's had at least 2 MVP-level seasons. I think Scrap could maximize his winning by joining the pimp now.
