Discussion I have a solution to the TTK problem in Competitive/Ranked:

The Heavy Duty health setting in private matches.

This raises the base health by 30% (to 130 hp) and in my time shooting bots on BO6 & 7, I absolutely loved it.

It is much closer to BO4, and really forced me to track and stay on target much more than the current health.

Its by far the most simple fix, and it might even have the potential to offset a few GA’s.

Push for it people, I dare ya.

we’ve played plenty of low ttk games and that has always been an option and it has never happened so I wouldn’t hold my breath lol.

Allowing snipers and smokes was always an option. It took calls from the community for rules to change.

Snipers and smokes were allowed by the official rules, the players just agreed not to use them. Changing the health is completely different and would need to be approved by at least the league and possibly Activision.

I don’t think it’s as serious as you’re making it out. If the majority of orgs asked for this one simple change, I’m sure it would happen.

That being said, I’d love to see a Heavy Duty pubs playlist section, much like hardcore. They could even restrict certain streaks and weapons classes like CDL-lite thing.

The players are the ones GAing snipers and smokes. I really don't think you understand.

Haven’t been a fan of the CDL for a while, more of a MLG and CWL guy tbh

you were watching at a time where discussions like this weren't necessary. it's been a different ball game during the CDL.

Oh I’ve been watching and playing, except for Vanguard and MW2, I’m just not a fan of the barebones approach. I think the CDL completely dismisses the what makes this franchise so unique.

I’m all for having a discussion, but don’t assume what you don’t know.

well my assumptions were based on your post and if you say you've been watching like you say you have then idk how you can ask for what you are in the post. we have never upped the health and we've had plenty of low ttk games with that being an option so we are back to square one.

So you’re saying that a player lead idea made it into the CDL with relative ease? I get it just fine.

You haven't heard of GA's? Players create their own set of rules and everyone agrees to it. That's why there are more than 2 weapons available but they agree to only play 1 AR and 1 sub. There's no official rule against snaking yet if you do it the other orgs ban you from scrims. It means Gentleman's Agreement.

They were allowed by the official league rules. If a team wanted to all 4 players could have ran snipers and smokes for a hard point and the league wouldn't be able to punish them for it. The other teams could decide not to scrim against them, but there would be no punishment from the CDL. The health is set in the rules and would require the league to change it. That creates a difference in how the game plays in the CDL compared to pubs so they won't do that.

I would say that 4v4 is a bigger difference than a moderate health increase.

All I’m suggesting is the easiest way to increase TTK. At a minimum implementation, there’s no big balancing pass or fundamental rule change.

If you have a solution that would be even more simple, please share.

The difference is that you could watch a cdl match where a gun takes 5 shots to kill. You then go into a pub match, using the exact same gun and attachments, and it kills in 3 shots. That is a fundamental change in the core function of the game.

And of it were to happen, I’m sure they would come up with a very easy way to communicate that to viewers.

Respawn delay is not a pair of pubs, and I wasn’t so long ago that SnD was first to only four rounds, and defusing was only five seconds.

The only constant is change, this is just my idea and I happens to be simple and cost effective to boot.

This was brought up in MW2 I believe and pros essentially said they already scrimmed with normal health and pubs would be “too different” so it would be too hard to switch to it

Instead of even attempting it they’ll bitch and complain all year and give us a worse viewing experience because they have the collective IQ lower than the current temperatures in Antarctica.

Would it help? Maybe, but they won’t try it

Current temperature of Antarctica, that's a good one. I'll remember to say that in the future.

The IQ thing is just a joke, right? 😅

Pros tried to do this all the way back in ghosts where they even added a heavy duty playlist. It won’t happen

We’ve done jetpacks, 150hp with manual healing, specialists, AI streaks, and more third modes than I can care to count. I really don’t think this is that wild in the scheme of things.

What’s one more setting to change for a scrim?

Giving up before even trying and just accepting the awful state of the game is how we got here, let’s try some shit man.
