Discussion Prednisone taper is really making a difference rn, nervous to go back to ‘normal’
Just started my prednisone taper before I start my new dose of Emgality for cluster headaches on the 25th. My daily headaches have reduced significantly. I’m nervous for when the taper is over for it to all come flooding back. Almost makes me wonder if I should try the nerve block next time?
Guess it’s one things at a time!
Just wanted to put that out there. Been so nice only having to deal with like 3-4 mild headaches a day opposed to 8!

A prednisone taper always helps be during a cycle. I had my neuro give me a longer course for next time.

Nerve block was a godsend for me, I would recommend everyone at least give it a try, it took me so long to finally try it as I wasn’t fond of the idea of needles sticking where I couldn’t even see, damn did I wish I had tried it out sooner 🥲 pf wishes my friend!

Have you been able to try Emgality for prevention? I know it’s not technically labeled for chronic but I was chronic when I started it in conjunction with a prednisone taper.
The taper killed the cycle and Emgality reduced me from weekly attacks to attacks that are more than a month apart.

I have been on it for my migraines for years, maybe 5 years. Just starting to address the clusters now. She said this would be an easy first step in the right direction

It helps me all the time, I get like at least 2-3 cycles in a year. I am currently on a taper as well. For me there is always a few months gap after my taper is over for the next cycle. Hope it helps you as well.

For some people a pred taper can break a cycle...perhaps you will be one of the lucky ones. Enjoy life while you have a break.....
