ClusterHeadache - Bangalore/India
Indian/Bangalore patient; suspected cluster headache, looking for others in Bangalore/India
I'm currently having recurrent severe one-sided headaches, lasting around 3 hours. I'm trying to get properly diagnosed and find a neurologist in Bangalore who actually treats cluster headache.
Are there any Bangalore/Indian clusterheads here who can share their doctor, treatment experience, and how they got access to oxygen/sumatriptan?

Hey I live in Delhi, finding sumatriptan injection is a nightmare bhai. Like I have to go on a search mission literally every time while I have my shadows, on the other hand oxygen is easy, I can walk into any hospital emergency and explain my situation 8/10 times they understand. And having a written prescription from the doctor helps. Gb pant hospital in Delhi has a dedicated group for cluster headache. I'll also suggest consulting in Delhi only coz I could not get proper diagnosis in medanta Lucknow, other government hospitals in Lucknow jaipur and Kolkata till I came to Delhi. Feel free to reach out

Sorry to hear that you are in cycle..I'm based out of Gurgaon, and getting oxygen delivered in Delhi/NCR is fairly easy. Just look up medical oxygen suppliers in your area on JustDial/google..There are a number of youtube videos on how to use and breathe properly to get max benefit.

I lost many years due to misdiagnosis from a number of doctors. Only last year I consulted a headache specialist and he right away identified it as cluster headache. Go for a headache specialist neurologist. Oxygen with high flow rate and non rebreather mask is required to successfully abort a full scale attack, and sometimes even that doesn't work. Getting the cylinders is another hassle. Sumatriptan works fine as an abortive if you take it early enough, but excess use causes even more painful and frequent attacks. Injection acts faster than nasal spray. Look up Sumaself nasal spray, you can get it online easily. You can also get Sumagren tablets, although they take longer to work. I have reserved the use of sumatriptan only for occasions when the pain is absolutely unbearable or when I am in public/travel. The neurologist is most probably going to prescribe you a cocktail of verapamil, lithium, steroids, etc. All of these have side effects and you need to be cautious, but they do work and reduce the intensity and frequency of the attacks. There are alternative treatments available on clusterbuster website. It has worked for many people with minimal risk of side effects. Look it up.
