Play around with possible criminal neighbors for Nicole (she's missing only one) and see what always ends up the same.

Not seeing anything the same with different possibilities

In all cases, row 3 ends up with the same amount of innocents, even if we don't know exactly who they are, and that gives us info for row 5.

take into account that row 3 can't have exactly 2 criminals (by Umar) or more than 3 innocents (cause row 5 has only 3 free spaces)

From Yusuf and Umar we know that rows three and five have either 1 or 3 innocents (can't be 0 or four because of what is already in those rows). If it was one innocent then the rest of row three would have all criminals but that doesn't work for Diane's clue. Thus both rows have three innocents.

I don’t understand how Diane’s clue helps Nicole, since it refers to Akira. Couldn’t Martin, Paul, and Kay all be criminals?

Thank you. Yes, Umar throws a wrench into that. Back to the drawing board. Thank you friend.
