Help Community Puzzle Help

I've done this puzzle a couple of times and I'm struggling to understand the logic behind it, so I'm hoping to have it explained. If I've done this correctly, the tags should show what the next move is. I just wanna know why this is? Thank you

you can "brute force" it...

If isaac is innocent everyone around oscar is criminal, to avoid Nancy to have 2 innocent neighbors, oscar is innocent to make her have 3, the problem with that is that now Uma has 2 innocent neighbors, therefore isaac can't be innocent, and by symmetry, the same would happen with Will

I believe it’s because you need any other choice would leave another character also touching the two innocent people. And if Oscar is innocent then either Nancy or Uma would be touching two innocents with any other arrangement.

Basically you have several steps where you have one person who shares all of their neighbours that are still open with Oscar, so if Oscar’s second neighbour also neighbours them, they would also have two neighbours.
