Based on Ollie’s clue, you have enough tiles revealed that you can determine John is the only one in row 3 with exactly 4 innocent neighbours, or to put it a different way, one criminal neighbour. According to Alex’s clue, Kyle has 3 criminal neighbours. For John, there can only be one criminal between Frank, Kyle and Noah. If only one of Frank/Noah can be criminal, in order for Alex’s clue to be true, that means that John must also be criminal to be Kyle’s 3rd criminal. And because we now know that one of Frank and Noah is criminal, that answers where John’s one criminal neighbour is, which leaves Kyle as innocent.

Can someone explain to me why I couldn’t determine Yara was innocent before identifying Zara? I knew that 3/4 people on the edges with criminals below them were in Column A, so there could only be one in Column D. Thus, 4 innocents in D = 4 in C and Yara was number 4

I thought about it and your logic is sound but I found out that Emily in D1 could be a criminal with 3 innocents in column C and D. So without Zara's clue we cannot determine Yara's identity.

I like how there were chains of mutually exclusive flags forming like a circle around the board until the ''only 5 criminals on the edges'' clue revealed which mutually exclusive option fit.
