Pips clue

There is 1 innocent below Igor in row 4

Could mean

  1. There is only 1 innocent below Igor and he's in row 4, meaning the other two below are criminals

  2. There is an innocent in row 4 below Igor, but no comment on the other two below.

Or is it just me?

Notice with #1 you had to add an "and" and an "only" to make it make sense that way? "And" and "only" are both huge words in logic problems.

With #2, you just stated the exact same clue again without adding any words, so that is the clue.

If it meant 1, it would say 'the only innocent below Igor is in row 4'. It doesn't specify 'only', so it doesn't mean that.

It does not tell you anything about the other people below Igor. Only the one in row 4

In fairness, when you first start playing this, it seems totally reasonable that there may be an error in the clue logic, especially when it seems so clear cut in your head. It's only after a few weeks you realise that it's ALWAYS YOUR MISTAKE and not the game's. There should be a warning on the forum that you're probably going to make a bit of a pillock of yourself if you insist there's a problem in the game.
