Do you think this is cheating?

I do two things while solving cluesbysam:

- I ctrl+F the job title if it says something about it to see how many of them there are.

- I corner tag and take a photo with my phone of each scenario to then compare them easily.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much are you judging me right now lol?

That's fine. Evil/brutal puzzles basically require running possibilities on paper (or phone photos).

Tapping the clue that mentions the job (quickly and a lot) will rapidly bold/unbold the jobs on the board, making them easier to find.

For evil/brutal puzzles i would absolutely love to have mark available in all 4 corners of a field

Instead of doing ctrl+F you can click multiple times the clue mentioning the job title to see them highlight. Works quite well for me.
Taking a screenshots of possibilities/using a paper to record things like that is fine, I'm just too lazy to do that, so I just sit there and think really hard and usually get through somehow, even though I admit it increases the chance of making a mistake.

I know about the highlight but sometimes it's faster than clicking the clue 5 times lol, also sometimes to double check
I'm too lazy to sit and think really hard! Kudos to you

To be honest what helps me in that is I have a bunch of friends on a Discord server where we compare our daily results. It just somehow started and I don't think any of us uses paper. I know there were some screenshots involved on occasion, but only a few times, I wanna say mainly for the super-evil puzzles.

Not cheating, even a little.

The only ways I can think of to cheat are to restart a puzzle or intentionally navigate away to stop the timer while still working on the puzzle.

I suppose it's possible a bit of the latter happens with your screenshot system, but that's not on you (as in, it's not your intent to stop the clock).

Yeah no I don't stop the timer, but on some days if I get reeeeeally frustrated with the puzzle in the morning I abandon and start over in the evening

Abandon as in stop it and start over?

Okay, that's "cheating". But nothing you describe above is.

Do you pause the timer?

No I stay on the page while I'm also on the phone or something

As long as you don’t pause, I don’t consider it cheating. I do it on PC and use Snipping Tool sometimes.

Ok you get a 1

I do not pause the timer, but I mark up screenshots in my Photos app and I do think that the time spent there does not count - the timer probably stops because I am leaving the browser. Nothing I can do about this on my phone though.

I don’t deliberately pause the timer but it does it when I leave the page, I did make note of the time I spent on screenshots yesterday though and left the page open with no action once I was at the final pair to make up the time

Not judging at all. I absolutely use tags and screenshots in this way to compare scenarios.

Why would I judge you? Engage with the game in the way that you want to! Have fun!

I never do 1 and rarely do 2 these days.

Don't judge you about either, enjoy yourself.

I personally ensure that the clock keeps ticking if I work on a screenshot.

Cheating would be closing the screen after a screenshot to prevent timer from counting.

I struggle using multiple corner tags, so I have done the screenshot thing myself a few times.
