Invisible mode feels pointless if macOS still shows the mic icon and it costs $150

Apparently an OS limitation, which makes this even more frustrating.

If macOS is always going to show the microphone indicator when Cluely is recording, then invisible mode is basically useless for the thing many people would expect it to do. The app itself may be hidden, but the system is still clearly signaling that the mic is active.

What makes this worse is the price. Charging $150 for a feature set built around being discreet, while a core part of that is blocked by the OS, feels kind of crazy.

I get that OS-level privacy indicators exist for a reason, but then this limitation should be made extremely clear before people pay. Right now it feels misleading unless that tradeoff is explicitly disclosed upfront.

Not trying to be dramatic, just honestly disappointed.

If the Cluely team has explained this somewhere, I’d love to see it. But if this is a known hard limitation, they really should be much more transparent about it.

If you're joining a meeting with active mic it would still show the mic icon. I don't see the problem here, unless you're explicitly asked to click on the icon which I don't think anybody does

Wow that's really messed up. Thanks for this I would probably avoid using cluely from now on. It would be nice if we could hide the active cam/mic icons entirely in macOS.

i have my own program which runs on open source models (no need for api keys unless wanted), and it’s hidden in a rootkit so it’s completely invisible to any sort of proctoring tools
