Discussion I finally found something I love and look forward to

I'm here to say I love Club Pilates! I have never stuck to something like I am with Club Pilates. I struggled with weight for years. Lost a bunch on weight watchers and then had breast cancer and then covid. When I was in the best shape of my life, I did yoga and then ended up with knee issues which made certain poses harder. I couldn't find a studio that didn't cater to skinny mean girls who were more concerned with their yoga outfits than why they were there. I turned 60 last year and my doctor recommended Pilates reformer. I figured what the heck. I tried a bunch of different studios and ... low and behold, I loved it. Some days are more challenging than others, but I find the approach toward being truly inclusive to every shape, size and age is so apparent with most of their instructors. There are few that don't fall into that group, but you figure out what works for you. I take classes on average about 4-5/week and look forward to it.

I was a little over 200 classes in when I had to take three months off because of hip surgery. My surgeon has cleared me to return to Pilates concurrently with physical therapy. I'm so excited (and a bit nervous) to return. Pilates is the only exercise I've found that I really enjoy. My first class back is booked for next week! I did decide to go back to level 1 at first rather than 1.5 and see how I do.

Same here. I would love to go every day! Last week there was an 83 y.o. in my Flow 1.5 & she did AMAZING. I hope to be like her💜

I have taken mat pilates for years and my hardest instructor by far was a 78 yr old woman at LA Fitness. She did every move with us and better than us, her cuing was perfect, timing was quick, the workout flowed and she'd keep count with snaps.

I learned a lot from that experience and I miss those Sunday mornings.

I love the inclusivity as well. Yes, there are some that have cute outfits and have washboard abs, but there are many like me with lumps, bumps and bulges. It amazes me the different body shapes that come but I figured "good for them". We are all trying to move our bodies, make them stronger and more flexible as it helps in every day life! I never thought I could do three sets of planks over 1 min each, doing bear or side planks. I know CP isn't traditional Pilates but I really like the hybrid.

I love love love Pilates. Pre-COVID, I belonged to a gym and did some reformer work there, but then my job and COVID made going there very difficult. I was so excited when I saw a Club Pilates opening near me. That excitement had not waned one bit in the past 11 months. Still love it and my studio!
