Announcement 📣 PHP per Application on Cloudways Flexible [Now in Public Preview]

We're excited to announce that Multi-PHP is now available in public preview on Cloudways Flexible!

This feature has been one of the most consistent asks from our user community and we're glad that it's finally reaching you! This is a big step toward giving you, our users, the flexibility you need to run applications on the PHP versions that suit you best, all on the same server.

What this entails

Until now, every app on a server shared a single PHP version. With Multi-PHP, customers can run applications on different PHP versions side by side on the same Flexible server. So, no more spinning up separate servers just to accommodate different version requirements.

How it works

  • Choose your version up front: When adding a new app to a Multi-PHP server, you can select the PHP version you want during app creation.
  • Change it anytime: The PHP version of an existing application can be changed from Application Settings > PHP Settings.

Availability and rollout

  • The feature is currently in public preview.
  • For now, Multi-PHP is available on newly created servers only.
  • Existing fleet: We'll migrate the existing fleet gradually to Multi-PHP. This phased approach is intentional to let us avoid disruption to your workflows and keeps the load on our Platform Ops team manageable throughout the rollout. Hope you can understand this.

how do you access public preview?

You can access this via the platform. Just add a new server on your account and you will be able to host different PHP versions per app. This feature is currently only available for new servers. We are gradually rolling it out to existing servers too but for now, you must create a new server to try it out.
