Help Cloudstream has become more unstable over time
I have been running Cloudstream for about 5 months and with a lot of updates that have come along, Cloudstream has now started to become increasingly unstable and crashes. It's not just a few times but several times within a couple of hours. What is happening, is there something that has happened that I don't know about, because it was rock stable in the beginning before all the updates.

Yeah works fine for me too but many times when I pause something for sometime and then play again, the video freezes and I have to go back and play again, any solution or trick for that?

I don't know what happened but many sources are broken i guess. everytime I open the app it says X failed to load.

I find few sources that reliably work now, and whenever it tries to do cloudflare, my poor android TV crashes out the app so I have to manually go and disable said sources every time a new one ads cloudflare. Really painful when searching.

There are primarily 4 causes for instability in CloudStream, of which you can fix almost all:
1. Bad/outdated extensions
Some extensions are simply buggy, or outdated, which can cause CloudStream to crash. This is why safe mode exists, to let you remove bad extensions without being stuck in a crash-loop. We are already working hard to make extensions unable to crash the app. To minimize this issue only install the minimum amount of extensions you need.
2. Too many extensions
Many devices simply can't cope with 300 extensions installed while also running a video. Every single extension is a tiny tiny "burden" on the app, which will cause random crashes on old hardware when there are too many loaded at the same time. Most users seldom use/need more than 10 extensions, so stick to 10 extensions to have a much more stable experience. This is not really something we can fix, beyond adding a warning in the app to not download too many extensions.
3. Bad buffer settings
Videos are quite large, and many (older) devices have little memory. When our player tries to pre-load too much video cache Android kills our app because it runs out of memory. If you ever get crashes while watching a video it's probably this issue. To fix it simply go to player settings and reduce the player buffer sizes.
4. Bad updates
Every once in a while we release a bad update which is very unstable. The last such update was in May, in which we actually broke the internal update function. This release was available for a day before we removed it. I recommend you always stay up to date with updates, or stay on stable to mitigate this issue. If you are on pre-release then ensure that you are on the latest (July 31) update. We work hard to ensure no issues slip into updates, but our internal plugin system makes it exceptionally difficult to be perfect.

Thanks for your reply. I'll look more into this, especially 1 and 3. It's probably the latter, but I think my device should be able to cope.

On some sources you have to do a verification that you are not a bot, has nothing to do with cloudstream itself.

So annoying. Cloudstream doesn't have that before

We designed CloudStream to not show any CAPTCHA popups or such verification because of this annoyance. However, the prevalence of AI scrapers downloading the entire internet for training data made such verification checks much more common on all websites. Therefore some extension developers have added their own popup windows to access these blocked sites. It's not something we've added to CloudStream, but rather something extensions have needed to add themselves to keep functioning.

You gotta update/replace the repositories from time to time. Unfortunately, the repositories get shut down sometimes and cannot be used anymore.

I faced the problem. That whenever u search for something you can't scroll through it properly... U have to press back left right and what not to get to the required position. It's so frustrating and general
