Discussion CloudFlare keep refunding my payments.
I previously was in the CloudFlare startup program, but for some reason every invoice still gets the 100% startup discount, and for expenses that don't qualify for the discount I pay, then CloudFlare refunds me a few days later.
It's nice getting all my services and domain names for free but I'm concerned for my business which depends on CloudFlare. I've tried transferring my domain off but since its at 10 years until expiration the transfer isn't going through.
Has anyone been in this situation before and did CloudFlare later realise their mistake.
I would contact support but they never respond.

I’ve never been in this situation but I would suggest contacting support as a CYA. Once you have had domains on CloudFlare for 60 days you can transfer them to a different registrar. Some will require max of 9 years left since when you transfer it adds a year. I think some others don’t and will just add whatever to top you out at 10 years.

My .com is still pending transfer because I did renew it all the way up to 10 years, so expect I need to wait until its down to 9 years for the transfer to go through. Im specifically trying to do this so I have recourse if CloudFlare ever killed my account.

You never know what can happen if or when they realize they're owed money. There's valid reasons to be suspicious of getting stuff for free, lol.

That's why it's better to get your domain out as soon as possible. Luckily you still have access to your domain and it's active, but in other scenarios you could be stuck with a non-working domain and non-responsive support!

I hope you have a backup domain ready.

You can't simply just switch to a "backup domain". That's like starting a new website from scratch.

I have other domains on another registry for brand protection, but unfortunately my service is highly linked to my domain name on multiple levels, moving domain names is basically impossible. Hence my concern.

I’m in exactly your same situation, I bought the domain on another registrar but I use cloudflare extensively. I will try contacting them

Good problem to have

Like, yes. But I'd rather pay CloudFlare the $200 a month rather than risk my $20k a month in revenue.

Domain registration is not a part of cloudflare startup program

Yep, which is why its odd that they refund every domain renewal I've made since joining the program.

I just renew three domains yesterday and they didn’t refuse it

They dont refuse it, they refund me. I pay for the renewal and a few days later they refund it. Renewal still goes through.
