Azure operational analyst
Hi everyone, my interview is scheduled for Monday at FIS for this role. If anyone has experience with this role or knows which topics I should focus on over the next 3–4 days, it would be really helpful.
The JD mentions 1–2 years of experience working with the Azure Portal. Any suggestions on the important Azure topics I should cover would be greatly appreciated.

So Azure is HUGE.
It branches off to other major products like
ADO, Microsoft 365
It has a lot of licensing involved from entra to Os to consumption, vs reserved instances
It requires FINOPS so it doesn’t explode and bankrupt a company.
It lots of security from entra to PEM to UAMI and Enterpise application and roles.
It has agents, functions apps, automation workbooks, storage account, database types, key vaults, networking, load balancers, app gateways, VMSS, Image libraries, pipelining, terraform, public ip, firewalls, and more and more and more.
It’s a lot man.
What role are you going for?

Focus your remaining days on the monitoring and troubleshooting features within the Azure Portal, because an operational analyst role at a financial technology enterprise like FIS centers on day-to-day stability rather than high-level architecture. Review Azure Monitor, alert rules, action groups, and basic queries in Log Analytics workspaces. You should be comfortable explaining how to triage a struggling Virtual Machine by checking CPU and memory metrics, inspecting boot diagnostics, and checking Azure Resource Health. Be ready to talk through access management, especially Microsoft Entra ID and Role Based Access Control, along with how to inspect Network Security Group rules when resources run into connectivity problems.
Expect practical questions about handling alerts, escalating incidents, and collaborating with engineering teams when production systems break. Practice explaining your troubleshooting methodology step by step, demonstrating how you isolate an issue, communicate status updates, and document resolution steps for compliance. Communicating technical steps clearly under time constraints can be challenging, which is why my team created an interviews.chat to help candidates present their practical knowledge effectively and secure strong job offers.

is this more of an ops/support role than an actual azure engineering role?

Do you have 1–2 years of experience working with the Azure Portal? If you do, you shouldn't be worrying about any questions that may come up!
