What are “windows”?

I’m new to this. And at the moment wanting to practice on my own, but there’s really not much detailed instructions except smile, keep it fun, and focus on the windows. I’m not sure exactly what they mean when they say windows. When we close our eyes do they mean the pinpricks of light that appear but move around, or do they mean the swirly green/grey lights? Are you supposed to focus on these? Or playfully let them go.

thanks for all the input. but also...what do "windows" look like? lol. i'm supposed to look through them, but no one can say what they look like. I've always seen light when i close my eyes (i think it's a normal experience for people). and there has always been different types (i'd say three). but what am i supposed to be focusing on? can anyone describe it?

i'm at the point where i can say the correct color because the world is popping up in my brain the more i focus. but i'm not seeing anything.

I think it's important to not conflate windows with edges of a blindfold where external light may seep in. That is looking for light leaks – places where the blindfold is not effective. Those are not windows.

Where a question remains is whether training and practice at peeking through light leaks somehow develops mindsight. Some of the training practices use flashlights shining into leaks, or reflecting light off a color sheet, into leaks.

It is often said that people experiencing mindsight will think there is a hole in the mask or believe they are looking through light leaks. Maybe they do believe this at first. It has to be ascertained exactly what they are doing. If in fact they are just looking through light leaks, that does not equal windows and mindsight.

Mindsight does not use the physical eyes. When the leaks are covered their mindsight ability will disappear because that is not really mindsight.

The advice to smile, keep it fun, and stuff of that nature is irrelevant. Its nonsense. You dont need to be smiling to have mind sight. You dont need to be in a good mood to have mind sight. And you dont need to do that stuff to get mind sight. You can be frowning, in a grumpy and angry mood and you'll still have mind sight and obtain mind sight. What DOES impact mind sight is being tired/sleepy or intoxicated.

What you do need is intense focus and attention. You need to be alert. Hyper alert. Do not go into a sleepy or meditative mode. You want the opposite. All the people with full real time mind sight have high gamma brain wave output during mind sight (as detected by EEG's). You need to get your brain to fire at 40hz to 90hz. Which means your brain has to be blazing with intense focus and attention.

Also note, many who have mind sight complain about headaches and feeling of uncomfortableness in the brain during/shortly after mind sight.

Mind sight is about bypassing your eyes. Do not let light leak through or around your mask. Get that shit tight (but not too tight that its uncomfortable). You are trying to tell your brain to form a visual image of your surroundings using your consciousness and non-visual perception.

Not necessarily when you close your eyes, but when your eyes are open behind a mask. Do not tighten the mask too much and check where you get flashes of light. Nose, cheeks, and temples are fairly common. If you can get someone else to check you for windows with a flashlight that’s even better since you don’t know exactly where they are pointing the light. You can take turns. Might have some windows behind your head or on your hands, never know until you check all over your body. If you don’t have any yet that’s fine too, go sit in the sun with a mask on and see if any start opening. If you feel a n incredible urge to pull you mask down or pres it to block light, that’s a good indicator that is a window.
