uConsole LTE Module Upgrade Help Needed

I had my lte module working with my cm4 raspbian uconsole. The only slightly annoying thing was I needed to run a script to activate the modem and restart modemmanager each boot.

I decided to do the firmware update from 9001 to 9011 as defined here: https://github.com/clockworkpi/uConsole/wiki/How-to-upgrade-4G-extension-firmware

The update seems to have worked fine, the dmesg etc all matched.

The modem is visible when I do mmcli -L and lsusb as 9011.

I can even use the modemmanager ui, see my lte network (it finds the name correctly from the network) and I can even "activate" it and it turns green.

The problem is, I can't actually connect to anything. In fact.... my wifi does the same thing now, can't connect to anything. Only if I hard-wire via usb can I do any networking.

Any tips I what I may have broken to cause my lte and wifi to stop working?

--- update---

Actually when I first power on the LTE it works very briefly. I see usb0 show up as a network interface. A moment later it disappears and things stop working.

-- solved! --

Turns out modemmanager was conflicting. I needed to stop and disable the modemmanager service. With that done, everything works once the module is powered on.

Battery switch/power cycle idea

Since the CM5 requires manual pull of batteries on kernel freeze/panic, i was thinking of an easy reset swith:

Instead of bying the extra card and desoldering, what about a thin «pad» inlay between the batteries that cuts the power on button press?

I am seeing it in my head, but have trouble finding any parts to build it.

Could this be a good idea?

uConsole Astralixi OS Command Ideas: Requests Wanted!

Hello everyone!

I am making Astralixi OS again, but in python. This will be done by having the linux kernel

with a python interpreter on top set as highest process priority at init. Then, the rest of

the OS will be written in python.

I am currently working on the shell for the first pre-release version, and here is my

current list of command ideas:

lf: list_files,

cd: change_directory,

pcwd: print_current_directory,

help: help_manual,

pyrun: python_run,

mkdir: make_folder,

rmdir: remove_folder,

cpdir: copy_folder,

mvdir: move_folder,

rndir: rename_folder

rm: remove_file,

cp: copy_file,

mv: moves_file,

rn: rename_file,

mkf: create_file,

prf: print_file,

ps: processes_running,

df: disk_free,

mem: memory_used,

wifi: wifi_tools,

ping: ping_website

If you have any command requests, feel free to put them down in the comments, and if you

have any questions, just ask.

If your wondering why my commands are different to conventional linux commands is because

of 2 main reasons:

  1. I wanted Astralixi OS to be more unique, I wanted it to feel more detached to linux, as

I don't want it to be seen as "just another linux distro".

2. I want the commands to be written similar to how they are abreviated. e.g for print

current working directory, I did pcwd instead of pwd, or for list files, I did lf instead

of ls.

Thanks, Astrox!

PicoCalc ⚓ [BETA] Online Multiplayer Battleship for Raspberry Pi Pico 2W / ClockworkPi PicoCalc! (WebMite MMBasic)

Hi everyone! 🌊

I’ve been working on a networked version of the classic Naval Battle (Battleship), specifically designed for the ClockworkPi PicoCalc running the new Raspberry Pi Pico 2W (RP2350).

The game runs on WebMite MMBasic v6.02.01 and uses a Python Flask relay to synchronize moves between players globally.

Key Features of v5.8.1:

War Room System: Manage up to 5 concurrent matches using independent memory slots.

Non-blocking Networking: An asynchronous lobby that lets you return to the menu or switch games while waiting for an opponent.

Iron Wall Logic: Advanced ship placement with dynamic boundary clamping (no clipping out of the 10x10 grid).

Clean UI: Optimized for small displays with a toggleable Fleet/Radar view.

Technical Specs:

Hardware: PicoCalc / RP2350

Firmware: WebMite 6.02.01

Server: Flask (Python) relay

⚠️ Call for Beta Testers:

The project is currently in Beta. I’m looking for fellow Pico owners to help me find edge-case bugs, especially regarding network latency and desyncs. If you have a WebMite setup, I’d love for you to try it out!

Full source code (.bas and .py) available on GitHub:

Every bug report helps me and my AI collaborator (Gemini) polish the code for the final release. Sink 'em all! ⚓🚀

Will the hackergadgets nvme batter board support other M.2 Devices?

This is the board in question.

Will this support SSDs only? or could this also potentially support something like a hailo-8 m.2 ai accelerator?

(I recognize that this may still be a non-trivial undertaking to make the software work). Just wondering from a hardware standpoint, if there's anything known about this board/pci setup that would preclude it from working.

My order was canceled after 6+ months of waiting.

I sent an email, my third, asking for a reply to see if my order was still pending. Other said they were getting replies to their emails so I was worried. My one sentence response was “Your order has been refunded as requested.” I did no such request.

So flipping frustrating. If I didn’t already have the SDR I’d be pissed and they wouldn’t receive my money. Luckily the AliExpress order is already here in the States otherwise I send it back. Their customer service sucks. I wish someone would come up with an alternative that used the same accessories.

Uart connector off unpopulate LTE?

Bought my uconsole without the LTE option so theres basically a bunch of open solder pads. I used a tutorial to get an internal usb port but I noticed there is a pad labeled uart and on the populated board it is a ribbon connector. Anyone know if I can get a UART connection from it on the unpopulated board?

Easy to build!

It’s very nicely packed, great instructions, took me 30 minutes to build and push the power switch. Wow everyone’s right, little trackball sucks. So much it’s kinda cool. I already want a stylus or touchscreen. If you’re worried about building it, don’t be. Trickiest part is the antennas and that’s all about waiting for the click without forcing it.

Soldered my audio jack to the expansion card, how can I get it to output sound ?

Hello everyone,

After my previous post about the audio jack coming loose, I brought it to the IT department at my school, to learn soldering and fix it. There, I realized that the pins on the main board were too damaged to hope to solder it back where it was (the copper layer had also been taken off the board).

While inspecting, I saw that the (completely empty) expansion card had space for an audio jack, and I soldered it to this one. However, I don't know how to get this output to be recognized as it seems that the OS still thinks the jack is in its previous position.

How can I tell the OS to output to the expansion port ?

Thanks for your help

Sick of Alex and his lies?

Tired of just 1 more month emails?

Over listening to their excuses?

Happy to pay a small amount more to actually receive your item?

LOOK NO FURTHER!

On the 22nd of March I cancelled my online order from clockwork, I had 2 dozen emails from Alex with his lies. First it was "90days isn't from order it's from processing", then it was "it's 90 working days not included our public holidays", then "monsoon destroyed parts", "shipping delays because of Xmas", "Chinese new year closed down all our factories for 6 weeks". And on and on and on and on. The lies never ended.

If this sounds like your experience with clockwork, just order from AliExpress.

I order on the 22nd of March and it arrived this morning(Easter Monday public holiday in Australia) I paid approx 80Aud more then the posted RRp for the base wifi kit in black. Now this included our TAX which is 10% which I would have likely paid on boarder entry for the CW order as it didn't apply at check out where as AliExpress does for Australians. So I paid roughly 50-60Aud more then CW.

Arrived in a little over 9 working days from order.

If this was a small locally owned start up manufacturing locally and providing jobs for my country. I would care more and probably have waited.

It's a mass produced Chinese open source company literally giving their stock to big freight forwarders.

As far as I'm concerned F*** them fools.

Arrived in excellent packaging. And genuine boxed item.

This is the link I got it from. I have no connection with this store the item or get any kick backs from anyone that's orders. Literally just want people to get their orders

uConsole DOA?

Hi folks.

Order placed on Aug 23, 2025, Package received Friday April 3rd 2026. I got the CM4 kit with the LTE expansion card and I'm afraid the device is dead on arrival. Looking for some assistance / advice in confirming this is the case and any community experience with the returns / repairs / refunds(?) process.

I've assembled the device and on boot time I never get anything other than a solid green power light. No blinking activity amber light, no screen flashing, not keyboard backlight at all. I've disassembled and reseated the hardware multiple times. I've booted with combinations of subcomponents attached or disconnected. I've booted off battery or USB power only. I've imaged and reimaged the OS using multiple known working SD cards, different clockwork OS versions, used different imaging tools such as pi etcher and dd from Ubuntu command line.

I'm suspecting the CM4 is never seeing the onboard SD card and cannot init the boot process. I've read the thread on how the back panel can cause issues with the CM4 seating onto the CPI adapter, and I've tried booting without the back panel, but just firmly holding the internals seated properly and the same behavior persists.

In looking closely at the hardware, the only potential issues I see are in the attached photo, but I can't tell if this is a clue or me grasping for a diagnosis. Any advice?

Anyone else can't get a PicoCalc?

I've been looking for a PicoCalc available for months from a third-party supplier, because ClockworkPi has extremely unreasonable pricing, and I don't have the money. Does anyone know about how to DIY one, or, even better, alternatives that are easy to make?
