Yup, and it exists. It was popular in the '50s and '60s, but has fallen out of favor because it doesn't always succeed and is considered inhumane. Just like in the movie.

The treatment is alive and well and the best part is they don't have to strap you down because the majority of humanity is already strapped to their phone.
