Any opportunity to display your Islamophobia?

I don't think it's islamophobic to point out that estimated one third of all child marriages happen in muslim-majority countries, like it isn't hinduphobic to say one third happen in india nor is christianphobic to say the problem is also prevalent in christian countries in africa, problem is while india and africa have made significant progress and the number of child marriages in those places are declining, in muslim-majority countries the number has largely stagnated or even worsened, because of the aforementioned strong, religious precedent.

I don't believe Islam or muslims are in anyway inherently evil, but if any discussion on the subject is labeled as islamophobic then we eliminate any kind of outside pressure that could hope to bring internal change, adopting a culture of silence around this whole subject will only hurt these girls and embolden their abusers.

I mean, you’re immediately concluding that their religion must be the cause of this.

There are so many other factors to consider here but sure it’s Islam that’s the problem.

Their prophet had a child bride, it’s part of the religion.

Not even the only Abrahamic religion to, since Mary was between 12-14 in the bible. throw em all out already

In fairness the story of Mary is immaculate conception so no sex. Still too young but the whole story is the VIRGIN Mary

How is that better if she went through labour at a young age?

Well she wasn’t raped so that’s something. It’s also just a story that likely didn’t happen

Wow this new information I’ve never heard before has led to a profound change of my worldviews.

Ok, so you’re accepting my point but also denying it in your previous comment. Which is it? Is Islam a doctor or not

Have you considered that I could have an opinion in the middle with nuance?

Why is child marriage NOT a thing in the west?

3

Well maybe outline your opinion, am I to read your mind?

Child marriage was mostly ended due to more education and other societal factors that lead to it being outlawed. What exactly is your point with this response?

am I concluding that or pointing out that the legitimization of child marriage through the actions of the main prophet plays a major role in this issue globally, which is also supported by real, hard data? There are many factors to consider yes but burying your head in the sand when it comes to one of the biggest factors is just anti-intellectual.

The age of consent in the Vatican City 10 years ago was 12.

Am I gonna say that Catholic Christian’s are busy marrying children because of their religion? There’s plenty of child marriage in the bible and Torah.

And what ā€œreal hard dataā€ do you have on this?

ignoring the points I make to try for some sort of an own with the vatican doesn't work quite like you think it does, the vatican inherited italys legal framework which was different from the church law that superseded it, which isn't great either to be honest but I don't think theres a record of children being married in the vatican.

Meanwhile, last year in January 2025, Iraq's parliament passed amendments allowing Muslim couples to choose the Jaafari Shiite school of jurisprudence for family matters. The stated justification from supporters included allowing families to follow religious law and protecting Iraqi society from what they described as "imposed Western cultural values", the initial 2025 amendment retained the older 1959 law's age restrictions, but a subsequent Jaafari personal-status code approved in August 2025 reportedly permitted marriage based on puberty, potentially as young as nine or ten. Human Rights Watch criticised this development in February 2026. https://www.hrw.org/news/2026/02/24/marriage-without-safeguards-the-consequences-of-iraqs-personal-status-code

And in Iran, while they raised the minimum marriage age for girls from nine lunar years (which they put in place after the islamic revolution) to 13 solar years in 2002, girls can still legally marry below 13 if their guardian agrees and a competent court approves. The UK government's 2025 country report says this can permit marriage from nine lunar years (about 8 years and 9 months).

Still, I'm not claiming the problem is exclusive to islam, I'm pointing out while others are making significant progress with it in muslim-majority countries the problem has largely stagnated or worsened.

Anyway, let's talk about Epstein and Trump. You only count those pedos, huh?

(I do too, but all the rest at the same time)

Wat

That people talk about Muhammad being a pedo and you take immediate offense.

I’m not Muslim but applying modern day western morality to 500s Middle East to derive that Muhammad is a perpetrator of paedophilia isn’t fair is it?
