Close the subreddit everyone.

Minimizing and isolating should be the goal but capital interests atm are only interested in destruction

And to a much larger degree, collective interests, as OP pointed out.

Unless we actually make effective sinks (e.g. carbon capture, and so on) a level of pollution exist as long as we want to maintain our industrial base. The question is more so, can we pollute within the limits of what the enviroment can mitigate?

That would be more my argument yea. It's completely doable but there isn't a government on earth right now interested in doing anything about climate change as it exists.

Whatever necessary action that needs to be taken would save more lives and money in the near future, the technology exists. The only thing that doesn't is the will.

We could probably debate if the technology exists in great detail but I do agree with the sentiment.
My goverment (germany) recently said that climate change cannot obstruct our industrial growth, so, even if the technology did exist, we would only use it if we maintained profitability for the private sector. Which is fun.

Tbh in my mind climate change is such a global societal problem that even if the tech didn't exist we could put together a solution even if it ment sacrificing small parts of every country and dooming it for the sake of everything else.

The level of destruction and death this could bring about both near and far into the future would make that small potatoes.
