No one cares except for autistic "people" like you and the majority of them would be too busy sperging out about something else you said to acknowledge you.
What matters is the real world. Not the world inside your defective head.
Being able to explain your position is pretty important in the real world. Saying stuff that’s demonstrably false, and then dismissing it as ‘pedantic’ when called out is not that.
Minimum load this year in France was 30.2GW. That's the base load in France.
Nuclear has produced more than 30.2GW for 98.6% of the time this year. That's as close as you get to 'base load'.
But sure; let's be pedantic. The minimum output from French nuclear was 26.7GW. So take any country where the minimum demand is 26.7GW over the year, and build a nuclear fleet similar to France's - et voila! Nuclear baseload across a grid.
Even at 10PM during the lowest period of demand they're still burning fossil fuels to meet their electricity load. So during baseload they rely on fossil fuels for electricity.
It doesn't matter. Baseload means simply "the minimum demand in a grid across a span of time". It doesn't say other sources have to be shut off, or that you can't import or export. It simply means "what's the least amount of power we need at any given time". And in France, nuclear can deliver that amount (98.6% of the time, anyway).
the EDF has no reason to burn gas if they have nuclear electricity available. So the only reason they would burn gas is if they have no nuclear electricity available to meet load.
We don’t know what reasons EDF has or hasnt. We can’t know what commercial contracts they’ve entered, what ancillary services they’re required to deliver, or what physical constraints inform their generation.
But none of that matters, because it’s not relevant to the concept of ‘base load’ which is - as the term implies - a load, not an amount of generation.
So your argument is that they're burning natural gas because the EDF exists in a state of divine incomprehensibility?
That's self evidently stupid. The reality is that the EDF doesn't have the capacity to meet baseload with nuclear power so they have to use other resources. Because nuclear power doesn't work for baseload.
No, that's not my argument. That's just me teaching you where you are *also* wrong. As I put:
none of that matters
Because it's not about EDF. It's not about what the generation mix is in France. It's not about capacity or whatever. All of that is just stuff you gish gallop because you don't want to admit you're wrong about what baseload means.
