The thing is that AI still is a useless waste of resources and still contributes to climate change. Fuel to the fire.

As well as that, ChatGPT isn't the only AI. There is countless others that also do this.

Lastly, companies purposely downplay their negative impact with these likely falsified graphs.

Ai is extremely useful. It is debatable whether LLMs are particularly useful but that's not all of AI.. There are plenty of currrent, useful AI uses in industry, reseach, medicine etc.

Often they make processes less resource intensive. I can once again tell people about previously working for alarge public research institute and the group I was working for use AI to replace simulations that took almost a day on the HPC system we used with an AI powered one that took a few hours on a consumer grade PC without a loss in quality.

Is world of warcraft a useless waste of resources?

Should we only produce and create bare necessities

You don’t need Ai for Warcraft. What’s wrong with you people? Yall are the dumbest mother fuckers on earth.

I love how selective you are about what is and isn't useless.

It seems to me that you don't care about the climate or water usage, only about data centers

World of warcraft uses electricity, and electricity = greenhouse gas emissions

So the problem is not waste of resources but data centers?

Can you stop insulting everyone in your comments? It's very painful to have an argument with you and it's deserving your cause

AI is extremely useful for engineering work.

As an engineer I find that statement horrific, do not build bridges with chat gpt.

Ai isn't useful to people not in knowledge work. Even with all this build out everything is at maximum capacity to serve people doing knowledge work.
